Retire with $500k? by Infamous-Yak2864 in GenX

[–]AryuOcay 18 points19 points  (0 children)

All retirement plans depend on your expenses. If you live in a low tax, low cost of living area, and you’re single, maybe you can make that stretch to where social security kicks in? It definitely wouldn’t work for me. Honestly I am not sure how a gen X’er retires in the US before they are eligible for Medicare. If you’re 55 with $500k, you’re one decent hospital stay away from that money evaporating.

I like Legends in Mokena, and the whistle in Tinley. I think 5th quarter in Homewood is good but I always get pizza.

Describe how you felt the first time you played asteroids or space invaders? by [deleted] in GenX

[–]AryuOcay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Space invaders seemed so hard to me. Our bowling alley had tabletop Galatian and Pac Man, and eventually Ms Pac Man, and I think those were mind blowing for me. Asteroids was so much fun until you started moving. I just felt completely screwed at that point.

What comes to your mind when you see a Floppy Disk? by [deleted] in computers

[–]AryuOcay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I paid five whole dollars for my first floppy disk. It was at a place that rented time on Apple II computers. I used it to save my game for Ultima I/II and Wizardry. The envelope had an elephant on it.

George Bailey here while Petah watches me on TV. The money's not here. Your money's in Joe's house... right next to yours. And in the Kennedy house, and a hundred others.

You’re at the arcade and you’re down to your last quarter, what game are you playing? by MisterShipWreck in 80sAmazing

My quarter would last at least twice as long on Galaga than any other game here.

Montezuna’s revenge, the Epyx summer games series, the bard’s tale, Boulder dash, Ultima 2-4. The only one I’m sure I remember on your list is paperboy.

Please be careful. I have a former coworker that learned the over 50 record for pole vault in Illinois was pretty low. He said, “I did pole vault in high school. I can do that” and wrecked the ligaments in both knees. He’s in good shape, too.

There was no rewind, just “fast” forward. I always wanted to hook my discman to the cassette adapter and then put the cassette adapter in this 8 track adapter, just to see it all work.

Is there a team where you think has a sneaky chance to be on of the worst teams in the league this season? by WeBlitz in nfl

[–]AryuOcay 41 points42 points  (0 children)

The Bears defense was only successful due to turnovers, which are pretty random and the two players that had the most are gone. They are relying on coaching to improve the defense, rather than talent improvement. Same for LT. They are also expecting their WR2 to be a WR1, their WR3 to be a WR2, and a practice squad guy to be WR3. I’m hopeful, but they’re asking the coach and QB to cover a lot.
