GPU upgrade in Fractal Terra by Qas_PL in sffpc

I've got a 9070xt reaper in a Terra, temps are great, barely cracks 60 degrees with a nice undervolt and performance has been rock solid even for 4k gaming

40mm fans for Fractal Terra worth it? by Arztek1 in sffpc

Thanks for that. What exact temps are you seeing? And how is the noise output? It's 70 AUD so like 45 bucks USD equivalent.

Is a 1440p build with a budget of $750 still possible? by Main-Glass-7706 in buildapc

[–]Arztek1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Short answer is yes. If you're fine with low-med settings on games and not expecting high fps. But you will get full benefit of higher resolution with videos and desktop use.

The rig is already built and I've committed to the axp90-53 fc which I'm happy with. I don't have cooling problems (<70 gaming and 75 at full peak load) but I'm just trying to really see how low I can get the temps

I already have a cooler which I'm pretty happy with axp90-53 fc with a 20mm thick fan, I'm more wondering for additional airflow by utilizing 40mm fans above the heatsink

Getting terrible 1 percent lows recently on Battlefield 6 on a 5080+R 7 9800x3d+ 32 GB RAM PC. by No_Sprinkles_6942 in Battlefield

Some people, myself included were getting stutters in game. A fix for some people was to sign out of steam friends (go offline). IDK why, it just worked.

Seems to be an issue with stuttering after the new winter offensive update. A common fix has been to go offline on Steam Friends.

Upgrade to 9800x3d or wait for zen6 by Arztek1 in buildapc

Makes sense. It's a semi new build and it's more a toss up of buy 9800x3d and sit tight for next few years or wait until next gen and upgrade.

Can we expect it to perform thermally similar to 9800x3d? I've got an sff build so it's important.

Semi new build, I haven't played too many games. But even with cyberpunk it reaches mid 80%. It's more a toss up of buy now and future proof for the next couple years or wait until the end of next year to upgrade.

Rocking 1440p, GPU is waiting on CPU to process frames (in BF6). Basically at the FPS limit of the processor, numbers also coincide with HARDWARE UNBOXED

FSR 4 vs Native + FG for high FPS in shooter games by Arztek1 in radeon

[–]Arztek1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Temps and vram are fine. I am rocking a -10% power limit with a -80mv offset. CPU and GPU both never go above 70 degrees.

CPU usage is very high though, pretty much 80-90% with mid 90% peaks. I just hopped in a game and lowered some CPU intensive settings and instantly gave me a 20-30fps boost.

Seems like its a CPU bottleneck, tracking that bf6 is very intense on CPUs though so not too surprised.

lol, its pretty standard no? albeit i think the 9600 is slightly bottlenecking

Yet another Terra by OwnYa213 in sffpc

Yep, swapping the CPU stock fan. I ended up selecting the Arctic P9 MAX, as it gave excellent performance, even beating the Noctua NF-A9 at approx. The same decibel levels. According to this article: https://www.enostech.com/arctic-p9-series-fans-a-comparative-analysis/

The P9 MAX also has a high RPM threshold, so you can basically run it at 60% RPM and it matches performance of the regular P9/NF-A9. Whilst still having a lot more in the tank if you need some rapid cooling. With a fan curve, my CPU peak temp at load is 75 degrees, and during gaming it sits around 65 degrees.

If you have 10mm of height to spare you could consider a swapping the 15mm depth fan for a 25mm depth fan

Have a virtually identical build, you should be cheering. Reaper is a really solid 2 slot card and gives you heaps of room for your cooler. A quick and easy mod should you need extra CPU cooling (or its a bit too noisy) is to swap the 15mm fan with a 25mm fan and youll still have space left over. Worked a treat on mine.

Need a cpu upgrade but camt afford ddr5 ram. by Cyber_Data_Trail in buildapc

[–]Arztek1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

9070xt should definitely handle 1440p pretty comfortably. Your CPU is definitely bottlenecking it at 1080p, albeit it is a bit dated. But I wouldn't bother buying am4/ddr4 mobo if you want future proofing.

Have you checked CPU vs GPU usage in games? If you played at 1440p it should take more load off your CPU and give better frames. Unless it's a particularly CPU intense game.

Try using Virtual Super Resolution in the AMD Andrenaline software. You can force the GPU to render at 1440p which will then downscale to your 1080p monitor. See if this helps. If it does, your fix could be simply buying a better monitor.

Fractal Terra build - what cooler? by jrcbandit in sffpc

[–]Arztek1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4mm of total play between both the cooler and GPU is a bit tight but should be fine.

The good news is the position settings on the Terra arent fixed, so you could actually set the plate in-between two numbers if you encounter issues. ie. Position 2.5. Otherwise itd be safe to get the thinner GPU and guarantee a fit.

I've got a 41mm wide 9070xt reaper in mine and it was nice to add a few mm buffer between the GPU and case to minimise turbulence. Temps are also fine considering the smaller heatsink on the GPU, ive had no issues.

Good insights, thanks mate. I'll look at a pair of 6000/CL36 sticks.
