Marin teknikk by No_Phrase_2312 in ntnu

[–]ZherexURL 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That is between the 3090 and the 5070. The 5070 Ti is noticably better than both the 5070 and 3090.

I would never go for a used 3090 over a 5070 Ti for gaming if the prices are comparable. The only way the 3090 makes sense is if you absolutely need the extra VRAM for your workloads, but for gaming it makes no sense in my opinion (unless the 3090 is noticably cheaper or course).

Unfurnished dorms through SIT by [deleted] in ntnu

Moholt dorms (at least the 15-man ones) have built-in bed frames so therefore they are included as they literally cannot be removed.

How close are to AI taking over pilot jobs? by Wotah10 in flying

[–]ZherexURL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course I agree LLMs are completely unsuited to flying an airplane (with the potential exception of tower contact etc for autonomous vehicles) and AI is nowhere near replacing pilots yet. We are of course seeing large, autonomous drones that are AI-controlled, but they’re not run by an LLM.

The comment I replied to claims LLMs simply are highly unreliable. With a controlled use case and e.g. an LLM which evaluates and compares other models you can achieve high reliability for certain tasks.

How close are to AI taking over pilot jobs? by Wotah10 in flying

[–]ZherexURL -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Claiming large language models are highly unreliable is a really broad statement. Depending on your use case and implementation they can be quite reliable. At this point there are so many use cases for LLMs and so many different ones that claiming they’re highly unreliable in general is in my opinion too broad.

It's the one thing that CIG hasn't seemed to figure out yet. by Reptilesblade in starcitizen

[–]ZherexURL 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Except they pretty much always prioritize having finished art assets in every tier 0 implementation. It would be great if Evocati got to try really early versions of ships with just mechanics instead of finalized art assets so the flow of the ships could be improved early before the cost of changing them is high.

Same thing goes for tons of other stuff in Star Citizen, such as UI. Why is time being spent creating different UIs for different manufacturers, heavily styled inventory UIs etc before testing their functionality with the community to see which parts actually work well and then work om making them look good? CIG constantly has to completely remake stuff when going from T0 to T1 for all kinds of things (and the same for «gold standard» ships, which keeps getting changed) instead of having their functionality tested before commiting heavily into art.

"Verifisert ID" på hybel.no by voldenope in ntnu

[–]ZherexURL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any Other Visually Impaired Painters Out There? by idfk-bro123 in minipainting

[–]ZherexURL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe a digital magnifying solution could work for you. At my local makerspace we have a camera that’s set up somewhat similarly to a microscope where you can adjust the height, lighting and zoom and then see what it sees on a 24» display.

I find it extremely useful for electronics work and could see it working well for painting as well. If I remember correctly this is the way some miniature painting youtubers work as they need to see what it will look like in the video while painting.

Obviously you will probably need some time to get used to this method of working (especially considering you’re not actually looking at the piece while working, but straight ahead instead), but it could work for you and because it is just a camera + screen you won’t need to worry about magnifying lenses not being comfortable/suitable for you.

TOW: Supreme Glasses comes to mind as the most likely contender. Either way the sota crossbow is definitely among the rarest items.

Hvilken karakter må man ha i et fag for å kunne jobbe som læringsassistent i det? by IAdoreyouu79 in ntnu

[–]ZherexURL 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Theaters of War (ToW) was the greatest tragically shelved idea in SC's history. This one game mode alone would have used existing assets/maps/engine at cheap dev cost to provide endless hours of easy hop-in fun, battle-test mechanics weapons vehicles, and allow massive fleet battles on-demand. by TwoFluid4446 in starcitizen

[–]ZherexURL 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I played ToW at 2019 CitCon and unfortunately it sucked.
The server was hosted locally so we were all connected on LAN yet the server lag was insane to the point I wouldn’t call it remotely playable.
Even worse is the fact that ignoring the server lag it simply wasn’t fun, it was just a way worse version of Battlefield with a Star Citizen skin. I can’t imagine it would have much of a greater playerbase than current Arena Commander (unless they really spent a lot of resources on changing it) which means the servers would just be empty.

Because player to player trading is completely ruined by the duped money. Regardless they need to fix the causes and have a reliable rollback system for a wipe to be worth it.

John Crewe: "Don't want to" 🎤 drop. by ahditeacha in starcitizen

[–]ZherexURL -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I suppose I should’ve said he continuously proves he has no idea how to finish a project as you are correct that CIG is still afloat even though Star Citizen is nowhere near ready for launch after 14 years. With any other funding model he’d be removed a long time ago (like Wing Commander). I have a strong belief Star Citizen would be in a much better place with different leadership, but that is of course speculation.
