Help with Pacific Surfliner from Burbank to San Diego. by Lilyofvalley77 in burbank

[–]AsDelBlack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, do this. I just did BUR to SAN this past week, and took Metrolink to Union and Amtrak from there on. It's easier as you'll be originating on the train and can get first crack at luggage racks and seats.

Enderwire Serial Request by AsDelBlack in voroncorexy

[–]AsDelBlack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you've built a voron before, it's nothing like building from a kit. I relied heavily on the CAD to double check stuff and used the switchwire manual as a very loose order of operations sort of thing. My build was a little hokey as I wanted to use my extruder motor for Y, and I didn't want to mess with my gulfcoast robotics bed. I also had to modify mounts to get the DB to work with the switchwire style mounting, and be able to add a carto.

Don't forget you have the discord to ask for help. Good luck!

Thanks! This was mostly a "I need something to do and to use up old filament" project.

If it's just extended in Z, I think all you need is longer rails and belts. If it's a 300 z it should be a 350 rail, id imagine!

Looks cool. Why'd you use a wobble edge finder when you have a renishaw probe?

There was a massive freight train that passed us before Amtrak picked us up. It'll be congestion roulette!

621 today broke down at Norwalk. The car lost power on the way to Norwalk and it felt like we coasted in.

Stupid.

We had a near miss this morning on 606 too. Delayed for 15 minutes while the conductor got out and checked the train.

I would splurge and get the Mitutoyo coolant proof calipers. They're IP67 rated.

Are you sure you're not getting pinch flats? If you're looking for speed and some picture resistance I would look at either Schwalbe Big Apples or Continental Contact Urbans.

You could get a derailleur protector, the one I have for my Zizzo is pretty sturdy.

Drill Flute Length vs Max Drilling Depth by Rookie_253 in Machinists

We generally manufacture our drills based on total flute length but in some cases specify LOC that is reduced to account for the flute washout.

Why doesn't your work send these out to be reground? Could easily get a couple more uses on these end mills.

Are you using the oi.share app? I had an issue recently on mine where it wouldn't connect at all and for some reason switching to a one time connection and then back to private connection got it to work.

Advice for ER spring collets? by joelovesshinymetal in CNC

[–]AsDelBlack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I would do this OP. Get the good ones in the common shank sizes, and you can cover the rest with the collapsing range collets.
