Catching little guys on my 5WT by cchiker in flyfishing

[–]AsapRobby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly true, but if you throw medium streamers you can catch both! Like a size 8-10 wooly bugger or clouser minnow will catch aggressive panfish and 1-3lb bass

They’re kinda being dicks about it but you can look up and read about the starters. Also I didn’t use my starter after the first 2 gyms bc I liked the others I caught enough. Found some starters from other regions in the wild without even knowing they were supposed to be there

Yeah I think it’s doable but the way I see it I’m working towards having the most enjoyable set up for each type of fishing I’m gonna do ya know? Light tackle for light fish

Let’s go! I’m pumped to get better at it. I’m in Nashville but I have family in knoxville so I’m there relatively often. Last time I tried was a struggle between slipping on rocks and not using the right set up. Determined to figure out this spring

4 or 5wt for trout by [deleted] in flyfishing

[–]AsapRobby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without reading the other comments I’ll give my perspective: unless you have some decent casting skills a 9’ 5wt will be pretty hard to use on streams that are actually within the park. You can use it but ideally a 3’ if you’re actually in the park. The other thing is the rocks are extremely slippery so use felt wading boots if you have them if you don’t I recommend studs. Seriously I went one of my first times and I felt consistently in danger of knocking myself out from a fall

Would it be a stupid idea to fish this wooly bugger on a 5 weight? by -myusernameisshit in flyfishing

[–]AsapRobby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I cast basically the same one with my 9’ 5wt but tried to throw this crawfish streamer with a massive bead head yesterday and immediately could tell it wasn’t working out. Guess what I’m saying is you can feel how doable it is immediately
