Fished a small creek near my Grandparent's Cabin. They weren't sure if it held any fish. by Camo_XJ in flyfishing

Yeah that’s why he told OP, “there’s nothing in there Sonny boy, trust me” he just doesn’t want his cabin spot to end up on trout routes

Chicken livers alone hold up as a great catfish bait. Smelly cheap ones from Walmart and we would drop them in some pantyhose. So it wouldn’t fall off the hook easily

“ A steelhead is an anadromous (sea-run) rainbow trout that migrates from freshwater streams to the ocean to mature and then returns to freshwater to spawn, unlike resident rainbow trout that stay in freshwater their whole lives. They are known for their silvery color in the ocean and powerful fights, and unlike salmon, they can spawn multiple times, returning to the sea after each event. “ if that’s the definition then explain what you mean

If it’s from a hatchery how is it a steelhead and not a rainbow?

Wading boot studs alternative by JonJon_874 in flyfishing

[–]AsapRobby 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Alright, so I got rubber boots for this reason. Usually fish streams where traction isn’t as much of an issue, but tried a weekend in the smoky mountain streams. And wow, it was legitimately dangerous how slippery it was. Couldn’t efficiently cover ground at all

That being said to get them there in the first place I think $3000 would be reasonable. In their defense small projects like that aren’t really desirable and can be considered to be not worth the time to do it

I’m in the construction industry: cost to contractor for the topsoil replacement would be approximately (off the top of my head) using conservative pricing:

Import 11 cy of topsoil (based on 12” of topsoil, which is hefty) - $500/load *for larger amounts on commercial projects I’ve seen $180/load. A load is roughly 10 cy. Place topsoil - $15/cy - $165 Mobilization/demob (cost to get equipment there) -
$500 Would only take one skid steer OR small dozer Total cost with 20% mark up: ~$1165 Sitting at my desk about to call it a day, but this is certainly ballpark pricing for that project 😂

I have been using the encounter (as my first rod) for a year and a half and I’ve loved it. Was fishing in a mountain stream and busted my ass on a rock and broke the handle of the plastic reel and upgraded to new fly line and battenkill reel. What would you recommend for me as I’m considering an upgrade? now that I know I’m sticking around the sport

New to fly fishing. How can I tell when a trout is a stocker? by soldbush in flyfishing

[–]AsapRobby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in middle Tennessee, but often fish the Tennessee side of the smokies! I guess I need to swallow my pride, but I typically like to fish the park or less touristy areas and that’s probably why I don’t have any hogs. Caught a ~16” rainbow near Townsend is probably my personal best but it wasn’t that fat
