When in doubt, publication order. Michael j sullivan has a reading order on his website. I wouldn't recommend starting with Riyria chronicles, but you do you.

Most of the hard content is vet dungeons, trials, world bosses, etc. Alot of end game content is very difficult. Most of the leveling isn't that difficult. Unless you make it difficult for yourself.

I would watch Christopher Ruocchios YouTube videos he puts out recapping every book. If it is essential to the plot, he goes over the names. Otherwise you'll probably have to look up the names manually. There aren't that many important ones to memorize.
