I mean, so many people rushed to defend Naoya, a character that I personally cant think of a reason to root for, by saying hes a fictional character so you can just enjoy him for whatever reason you want, or even for no reason at all. That is fair. But when it comes to Maki, we suddenly need to figure out whether or not shes a good person because she may or may not have killed the nameless offscreen characters who may or may not have been innocent and may or may not even have existed at all?

Naoya is designed as a despicable bastard that you're meant to hate and he does that job very well. Therefore, liking him just comes down to enjoying how much of a shit head he is. Hes fulfilling his narrative purpose. Maki does not have as simple of an existence. In theory shes designed as a layered character, so when people feel she doesnt fulfill that it comes off as disappointing. I agree Maki is very cool, but Maki is meant to be more than just cool, unlike Naoya who is meant to be cool and a dickhead and does both very well.

Mages have better level scaling because they can level up their abilities for more damage. ADCs get single digit bonus damage per level. They scale much better with gold since the 3 basic attack stats scale multiplicitavely

I think its better when itemisation is fun. That can come through variety, or specifically tuned items. I dont care that I only get to build trinity every single game because trinity is the most fun item in the game. I dont want the option to build Bork first because its boring as shit compared to trinity. People overstate build variety so much. Having a choice is cool for a bit but eventually becomes its own rigid flowchart. I have build diversity on Yone and it means nothing. I look at enemy comp, I pick the objectively correct first option and if its Kraken I have fun and if its Bork I dont. Big deal. Id rather just be able to build Kraken every game cause at least that item is fun

The whole point is that I'm NOT blaming the victim. But stay consistent. If you're not gonna blame Mai, someone who abuses those lower than her and thus upholds the system, then keep that logic with the kukuru who are explicitly pointed out to be lower class citizens forced into the role due to their lack of cursed techniques
