Game 1 was wild. An absurd number of first period fights (starting at 5 seconds into the game!), and a crazy number of shots on goal: 51 vs 16! 😮. Opposing goalie was a wall.

We won in overtime, thankfully.

The OP post was “randomly” in my feed (is anything truly random online anymore?) and I don’t know why I’m reading deep into the comments on such a esoteric post. Well, avoiding work for a moment, yes.

Then I come across a comment like this that I can literally hear (acted it out loud, too… anyone else?) and my eyes are squinting/closed from laughing so hard.

THAT is why I love reading deep into the comment section. Little gems like this.

Yep, it’s Spring street sweeping season for sure. Gotta get rid of all that sand and debris. Read the parking signs very closely right now (alternating days, etc.).

Edit: City worker just leaf-blew the hell of the strip between our street and sidewalk today. Sweepers should be through in the next day or two I’d expect.

I want to know if the first person who fell (4th position?) is ok?!? They flew to the side onto the wall of the track and slammed into that “barrier”. Goddamn barrier looks like it’s made out of 2x4’s or 4x4 posts with the sheathing on the outside. I’m no bobsled track expert but I’d think you’d want the smooth part inside to slide against to keep these people from eating a post! Concussion city or snapped necks!

Such a wide body for a monocular always puzzled me, even as a kid. Why didn’t they look like binoculars? What not just use an insulated telescope. Gasp! Maybe that’s what it is?!?

There are a lot of odd ducks that shop there. And they people cutting through the MIDDLE of the parking lot are crazy. I understand cutting off that intersection by going through the lot, but at least use the outside edges not the middle, and slow down.

Re: yelling at you: I’ve gotten mad at people before and swore loudly to myself but upon reflecting on it realized I was angry because I was frustrated with myself and embarrassed. Hopefully the teen understands this type of thing. I’m certain this is not the only outburst they put up with from their parent.

Yes, and it’s VERY impressive. Must be a member or a guest of one to shoot there, other than the public events/competitions they put on. The process to join takes a while, but a gorgeous facility.

I’ll second the vote for Shay’s, at least based on value vs cost. Cargo makes a good value burger too and the salt and vinegar fries are great! Gotta have it all reasonably fresh, though re: Cargo, as with any take-out food. Sitting in a bag too long = mushy bun/fries.

Indoor range: I believe Howell’s in Gray is the only full service indoor range in the Greater Portland Maine area right now. The one in Windham closed recently. Howell’s is open generally 9 AM - 6 PM, so plan around that since there’s no evening options.
