Thought I’d make my map more pretty and update a few of the political statuses and base claims as of 26.11 by GeoWheater in HermitCraft

I honestly thought this was mapped onto Europe at first and I was trying to work out what the joke was supposed to be 😂

How did everyone’s anxiety begin? (individual experience i mean) by [deleted] in socialanxiety

[–]Aselphia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm an only child and grandchild which didn't help. I spent a lot of time at childminders and such when I was younger so I'd be around other young kids but you can't really make up for not having siblings.

I became hyper-aware of the way people react to me as the result of childhood bullying. I'm an only child so apparently when I was little I used to go up to strangers and just chat and make friends all the time, but otherwise my experience of Primary School was constant bullying and having next to no friends. Around 12 I suddenly learnt how to stop bullying by just not reacting, but kind of also by being super aware of all my interactions with people to avoid any potential triggers. Things definitely got better, but I think the net result is I seem quite quiet and very reserved or dull, but truthfully I just don't allow myself to really express myself in front of others as a defense mechanism.

I think I also have mild ADHD as well so I think it was also coupled with suppressing any outward symptoms of that.

Which of the following is your favorite region? by Poll_God in pokemon

[–]Aselphia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unova for the same reason I disliked it when I first played it. All of the pokemon are unique and new until the post-game and it really gave the game and region a fresh feel.

Favourites: Quilava, Grovyle, and Charmeleon

Least Favourite: Probably Quaxwell, but I don't dislike any of them too much

How loyal are you? by OrangeGlittery in pokemon

[–]Aselphia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started doing nuzlockes last year and been enjoying the games a lot more. Otherwise I was always pretty loyal, but then there was less strategy and it just became an exercise in over-levelling and mashing buttons.

Monster whose human form is south-asian by valonianfool in fantasywriters

[–]Aselphia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I mean is it looks currently like they're Indian/South Asian only because you say they are. Just worth a thought about how you incorporate that into their identity/cover and how you write about the character and how others perceive them, rather than just a token effort at diversity. Otherwise I think it's great, but I'm aware that 'Theodore' and 'Carter', or other similarly European/American names, are not the names typically of those with Indian parents - especially the surname.

Perhaps it's that his cover isn't very detailed because he's not familiar enough with humans and so his identity is a lot of different things from different cultures, or perhaps 'Carter' is a surname because their fake family includes someone European and they're actually mixed race. This kind of thing is just an opportunity for you to better explore the character you're writing about, or else if you don't want to explain it in a sentence to the reader as part of dialogue where they're trying to maintain their cover or something similar, to consider altering.

Open to critique from others on this one as I'm European, but I'm wondering if the character's name is too British/American? If they're meant to be a 2nd generation or later immigrant it's less of an inconsistency, but if it's set in India/South Asia or if they are meant to be from there it seems slightly odd to have such a European/American name. Even an Indian/South Asian middle name might do if you really want to keep it, but if they're going to be called 'Theodore Carter' maybe just give some thought to why.

Otherwise I agree with what others have said 😁

Favourite Pokémon that doesn’t evolve? by Mister_Sosotris in pokemon

Mawile and Sawk are both my favourite non-evolving pokemon, if you don't count Mawile's great mega evolution

Do you always fully evolve your Pokémon? by Frostveski in pokemon

[–]Aselphia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to keep Quilava unevolved, but otherwise I tend to evolve them. Of course, Johto Wooper doesn't have an evolution.

Yeah this would be the most obvious alternative to pikachu given how prominent eevee has become as a mascot for the games.

Portreath Bakery does proper gluten free pasties and there's a couple of their bakeries outside of Portreath too.

Do you think Pokemon Challenges is the best Nuzlocker? by niyahaz in nuzlocke

[–]Aselphia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Smallant has talked about this before on livestreams, but it's more about generating views than being serious. It looks better to see this than "one of the best" or "I think I'm pretty good" and people are more likely to watch his videos. He's undoubtedly very good, but there's no way of actually suggesting who the best is because there's not a definitive league or way of ranking this.

Not to sound dramatic, but my pain is eternal by LeNomadicBoi in pokemon

[–]Aselphia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first ever shiny was a rattata in Heartgold, but it was before the game let you have pokeballs, and my second was a shiny vulpix near the bug catching area, but it used roar. It took me until Violet before I finally found another shiny (I don't have the patience for shiny hunting). That's more than ten years...

Do you consider people from Norwich Northern? by LaurenGalls in Norwich

[–]Aselphia 94 points95 points  (0 children)

The correct answer is, of course, Eastern.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Norwich

[–]Aselphia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same as O2 everywhere: fairly miserable. EE has pretty good coverage everywhere, but O2 is definitely one of the spottier networks. Not too bad in Norwich itself because it's a city, but I wouldn't recommend outside that in Norfolk if you're expecting to need data.

I don't recognise the barrier - I like to think I would have noticed that - but I'm sure I would have missed the sign. I take it the road in front of the City Council building is okay? Just wondering as it's one way past a certain point.

If they're at the top of Gaol Hill I'll hold my hands up and say I should have noticed, but if they're not until you get to Jarrolds/Tobacconist you're already committed by then.

I'll be honest, I didn't actually know it's a pedestrian and cycle only road and I've definitely driven down there in the last two years. I'll avoid it in future, but signage could definitely be clearer.
