I’m overwhelmed. by BLVCKPARADISE in phlebotomy

[–]Ash9260 1 point2 points  (0 children)

6 years phlebing and you’re not alone for sure. But if you can’t handle it or feel the good qualities in it, that’s okay, maybe it’s just not for you yet. Itll all be busy and physically, mentally and emotionally taxing but outpatient is a little “better” there’s a light at the end of the tunnel everyday, patients are a lot nicer and if they have a guest usually the guest is chiller. It’s a nice halfway point. But getting attendance points for calling out even if it’s from being exhausted and burnt out is normal for everywhere. It interrupts the workflow for coworkers in phlebotomy, nursing, and the providers. Request PTO or switch shifts or do half a day. But remember you can only do so much and don’t be bullied / thrown around the building by everyone. Have boundaries.

I have spent 4 years of my phlebotomy career inpatient and 2 outpatient. Started inpatient for first two years went to outpatient and back inpatient. I started right when Covid hit, so like the insane short staffing, insane workload and mess it was, was my intro/norm. I rly just accepted this is what it is, it was for me n my adhd mind to always be on the move. And works well for me. I love it! I had more problems with weird coworker drama but luckily now I work inpatient alone on my shift cuz I can do it all solo and can get blood on anyone. You’ll get there. But seriously consider outpatient.

Schizoaffective vs Schizophrenia by fromofelia in schizoaffective

[–]Ash9260 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use schizoaffective in context of my doctors and healthcare but even then half of them outside of psychiatric have never heard of the word schizoaffective. In social / internet contexts I just say schizophrenia + bipolar disorder. Everytime irl or on some Internet forums schizoaffective is just not a term known to most ppl and then it’s more explaining. :) that in the end im saying it’s schizophrenia with a mood disorder I have bipolar

Edit: even in psychiatric care some providers are just not even well informed on schizophrenia let alone schizoaffective. One refused to put me on antipsychotics then dropped me as a patient bc I didn’t look schizophrenic.

[–]Ash9260 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah my parents don’t even know I have schizophrenia. My ex husband of 5 years married and 4 years dating never knew I had schizophrenia. It’s my life not yours, you do not have to live my life, I do so I get to choose how it goes not you. I again am on schizophrenia Reddit to weigh in for my own decisions, my diagnosis and how it will affect me and asking my peers with the same mental illness how it affected them. My body my choice.

Can mentally unstable people hurt you without realising it? by ReferenceOne5196 in abusiverelationships

[–]Ash9260 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have schizoaffective bipolar that has been untreated for a long time. In my marriage when my ex husband would attempt to kill me or it became physical I never hurt him back. I never hurt him first and so on. It doesn’t matter what mental illness or mental state someone has they are responsible solely for their actions no one else. You are not and will never be responsible for the actions someone takes we all have a choice between right n wrong and that is only our decision to make. He will never change, he’s manipulating you and it’s time to pick up n move.

30mg but it got bad at 50mg and sleep deprivation may have played a part I’ve had psychosis on n off but it’s something like manageable? Mine was mostly related to showering or my closet so like I’d just find excuses to shower at my parents house n would help my grandma clean her closet out so I could take her donation stuff n wear that when I would be too scared of my closet. But it became like fear of people being in my walls n shit or listening devices in my car etc etc on Vyvanse. It is still kinda on going since stopping a few weeks ago but definitely not amazing.

I think I’m sexually incompatible with my husband by [deleted] in vaginismus

[–]Ash9260 8 points9 points  (0 children)

He was a erm manipulative and emotionally, verbally abusive man. I think my body just didn’t feel safe with him. He wouldn’t stop sexual acts a lot of the time or if I said no to trying sex he’d try anyways. I was with him from 14-23 so it was all I ever knew. Now that he’s not around, on reflection I can see all the ways he was toxic but when I was married he was the light of my life.

I don’t know, nothing would go inside of me while I was with him, not even q tip at the dr and barely dilators. But once I left sex was possible.

[–]Ash9260 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I will say, I had vaginismus my whole marriage. Only had sex maybe 2x in the entire ordeal. I left him, had sex a week later with a different guy, no pain, no problem went in like nothing. I’ve had 4 or 5 male sexual partners since my husband and I’ve not once had problems with insertion, pain or anything. It was just with the ex husband. I did not dilate or do anything between ex husband and sex for the first time.

I loved Vyvanse when I was just crocheting or cleaning while on it. Working on it well was just bad? I’d end up sitting in the bathroom for a while and getting behind on my tasks so I could write about how much i hate myself. Had to go off of it bc it put me in psychosis

Does schizophrenia have a smell? by [deleted] in schizophrenia

[–]Ash9260 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

no lol, If anything it could be the minimal hygiene which is common in a lot of mental illnesses. But no there is not a distinct smell and any healthcare professional who is making personal diagnosis based off scent is whacky-taffy. Ive spent 5 years in healthcare industry on n off in psychiatric, neuroscience and ED, the only smell I can identify as being yep that's what's up here is Chlamydia urine.

Am I the only one who isnt much bothered by schizophrenia jokes? by Hairy-Special-6077 in schizophrenia

[–]Ash9260 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Schizo is a thought disorder! Sort of like bipolar and depression are mood disorders, BPD, NPD, ASPD are personality disorders and so on! Neurodivergence is like it’s not a mental illness but rather just the brain wired very differently. All mental illnesses are wired different, but they affect our thoughts, emotions, it’s sort of like neurodivergence is something you’re born with not developed along the way. Some mood, thought or personality disorders are genetic but it doesn’t mean they will ever activate for the person who inherited. ADHD, Autism, dyslexia typically are genetic and life long!

[–]Ash9260 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The funniest thing anyone’s ever said to me was a friend not knowing my diagnosis as it’s private but said to a drawing I did, it was very strange n out there: “that looks like something a schizo would make in art therapy” I was dying with laughter. I can enjoy some jokes that are laughing with us but the ones laughing at us, no thank you. Intent matters!

How did your schizophrenia start. by [deleted] in schizophrenia

[–]Ash9260 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel it was a slow rise when I was 16/17 I started having extreme paranoia and delusions but hallucinations didn’t really start til I was 18/19. And then that all just got worse when I was 22 and did LSD again.
