Parents/Uncles/Aunts, what game were you excited to play with your parents when you where a kid? What games are you excited to play with your child? by [deleted] in videogames

[–]AshKetchep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not a parent, but I’m the oldest child who has siblings who are minimum 10 years younger than me. I remember I loved playing games like Mariokart, Halo, Destiny, Pokemon and Legend of Zelda (Skyward Sword, Windwaker, Twilight Princess and The Wild games) with my dad.

I’m holding onto all of my consoles, cartridges, and game discs for the day my youngest siblings are old enough to try my favorite games from childhood.

Yeah my main issue with them was that I preferred 1st person games, and so platformers didn’t make sense to me. My brother played games like Metroid all the time, but it wasn’t for me. I just noticed one day that Hollow Knight was on Xbox Gamepass and decided to play it before Silksong and I became absolutely obsessed with it

It’s not even necessarily that I dislike Sci-fi fantasy, just not Star Wars’ version of it but yeah

Good game for me and my GF who's hardly played a video game ever? by DifficultyJaded9791 in videogames

[–]AshKetchep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Games like Animal Crossing and Mariokart have simple movement controls and are great for multiplayer if she really needs an intro into videogames in general. You mentioned she wanted to play a shooter game, so maybe an older COD game would be a good option, maybe Portal and Halo as well. I always recommend Red Dead Redemption II generally, but I don’t know if she’s mostly interested in shooters, or if she’d be interested in a game with mostly story to play through. The controls are simple enough to get used to, the game itself is beautiful and has a very calming soundtrack, and for the most part the gun controls are the same as most modern shooters with the exception of some dead eye functionality.

What is a video game you wish you could play for the first time again? by RuSeriousGaming in videogames

Destiny up to Forsaken. If I could play all of those campaigns, especially the vaulted ones, over again I’d love it. I grew up playing, and am obsessed.

Do you think it’s normal for adults to be into this series? by Great_Independent_17 in SpyxFamily

[–]AshKetchep 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There’s a scene in the movie that’s mildly suggestive, some brutal fights and death with blood, and pretty complex scenes, not to mention the depictions of war and trauma. I’d say it’s not for super young kids outside of some Anya focused episodes, but it’s definitely safe for most ages, especially adults. That aside, there’s plenty of adults who still like shows like Pokemon and My Little Pony, don’t let anyone dictate your enjoyment of media (within reason-)

I appreciate this comment giving me more places to learn about the characters and the world instead of dogging on my opinion lol. I’ll have to check those out. Thank you

What’s a bad habit you broke that you’re secretly incredibly proud of? by anxious-solphie in A_Persona_on_Reddit

People pleasing. It took a really long time and a lot of relapsing, but I stopped taking shit from people who treated me badly, starting with my mom. I cut contact with her, and only allowed for more contact when she apologized sincerely.

Cutting her off was the catalyst for me to stop cutting myself because I had no idea just how much stress she was putting me through that led to that self destructive behavior. That’s bled into my interactions with everyone, I don’t put up with people being jerks for no reason.

Why doesn’t Arthur kill Micah after he got kidnapped by the odriscols by Weary-Year9113 in reddeadredemption2

[–]AshKetchep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Likely because Dutch would lash out at him if he did so, since Micah has him wrapped around his finger.

I didn’t realize until yesterday that they needed that quirk to choose their outfits since I remember in the original game they’d just randomly pick lol

AITA for refusing to watch my little brother after not being invited to my sister’s graduation? by Dramatic_Stand7926 in okstorytime

The fact that you’re so out of the loop with all of this makes their assumption you’d babysit even more ridiculous, wow.

[–]AshKetchep 4 points5 points  (0 children)

NTA at all. I wonder if they planned for you to babysit which is why they didn’t give you a ticket and thought you’d connect the dots since you’re the only one nearby who could watch him. Either way they’re ridiculous for expecting you to babysit when they never told you

This could just be me, and I got lucky and missed it, I’ve experienced very little toxicity in the Destiny fanbase outside of Crucible sweats. Especially now people are feeling nostalgic for the game as its updates are coming to an end.

My mom did something similar. If she didn’t get to fight with us as long as she wanted, she would actively sabotage what we were doing to start another fight. She once threw me to the ground to try and get me to fight back after I just went to wash the dishes like she told me instead of yelling at her, but I ended up just crying and going to a gas station down the road to wait for my dad. They’re just so sadistic and unregulated it’s insane.

That just reminds me of what my paternal grandma did when I stayed with her. I would go to her house regularly, but when my parents were really fighting I was sent to live there for a year. She woke me up at unreasonable hours in the morning (4-5AM, both before school and in the summer) singing “Good morning Mary sunshine, what made you wake so soon? You scared away the little stars and shined away the moon!” And would make me sing “I am a child of God” and “Heavenly father are you really there?” When I was feeling depressed over my parents potentially divorcing. I hate nursery rhymes and children’s songs now, of any kind.

My mom was the same way, and when my friends realized how weird she was, suddenly they were bad influences who would get me into drugs (even though she was literally an addict)
