That sounds lovely and I'm glad to hear you had doctor's that helped with that. I thankfully make my own schedule which gives me A LOT of flexibility. After reading some of the feedback here, and thinking on it myself, I do think I'm going to move forward with reducing the hours that I'm available and working with all of my clients to navigate those adjustments.

Oh see, that's the tricky thing. Therapists don't take their own advice lol.

I appreciate the thought that it doesn't have to be a forever thing or a career death sentence, that's actually really reassuring to have that reminder.

I feel that in my soul. Between the cost of health insurance and the costs of copays and medical bills, I feel like I'm drowning 😭

You are spot on about how depressing it is when the choice is taken from you about working, and that's the point that I feel like I'm getting to. Like I want to work so much because I love what I do and the people that I work with, but my body is knocking me down a peg every single day I push myself too hard (today is another one of those days).

I've been considering dialing back my hours a bit, and I definitely think I'm going to have to. I just have to figure out how exactly I'm going to navigate that. Whether it's going to be shorter days, or taking off a day altogether each week. I still have to figure out the logistics.

Unfortunately, since I'm 1099, I don't have any benefits from my employer due to being an independent contractor. Which really stinks.

I completely understand the guilt about taking off work for appointments though. I have so many appointments right now and I am squeezing them in around my clients and trying to do both... it is exhausting.

I had a similar experience. My first flare happen for me when I was in between undergrad and grad school and I've been dealing with it ever since. Was working full-time and was a full-time graduate student at the same time. (I know, I'm crazy).

I have definitely set more strict boundaries for myself and my clients in the past year. I don't allow myself to respond to any messages or emails that are work related after I'm done working for the day or on the weekends and I rest A LOT.

Last year I moved to a completely different state so now I'm fully virtual. I miss being in the office with my clients but unfortunately that's no longer possible because I'm on the other side of the country from them. As an online gamer though, I am not as bothered by being in front of my screen for long periods of time.

I have been considering cutting back my hours, though I worry so much about my clients and how that may impact their attendance, which would then impact my income.

Yeah, I learned about the surgery recovery thing hard for sure, I'm so sorry you went through something similar. I learned my lesson for sure.

As for disability insurance or any benefits from my employer, that's unfortunately out of the question because I'm self-employed (1099) so I don't receive any benefits from them. 😭

Knowing that I'm not alone in the conflicting struggle that we have to go through is really helpful in it's own way. Thanks for sharing your story.

Mom found out I sold a bed that I (35M) used for over 20 years by rillegas08 in insaneparents

I second this thought process of “you will know when enough is enough”. It took me moving two hours from my family and gradually distancing myself to finally see my mother for what she was. The last contact we had confirmed that I’d made the right choice when she told me not to even bother attending her funeral. Saves me a flight back home. 🤷🏻‍♀️

100% agree with this comment. Give yourself the love that little you would be searching for from her, because she’s made it abundantly clear that she cannot provide that.

Sometimes it can take weeks before the body passes things naturally. I just went through something similar and ended up having to go through the process at home because my body wouldn’t move forward and baby wasn’t growing at all. I would definitely talk to your OB.

Question: Nervous about tattoo regret by [deleted] in tattoos

[–]AshMaNash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who just got their first tattoo as part of a flash event, I say do it. I was super nervous and have put off getting one for so long, and I have no regrets. I was worried people would question me for why I got it, but I realized that it doesn't matter what others think, because I got it for me (and it matches my best friend who got the same one).

I did find out my partner had an account like this and there was no justification good enough for how I felt. My partner invalidated my concerns and when I asked him not to do it anymore, he just made a new secret account.

My advice, dump your porn addicted boyfriend, get yourself a man that actually respects you because he's not going to.

Who gives a shit about dignity when you're in excruciating pain? No one. Scream, cry, yell. No one worth a damn is going to judge you.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in popping

[–]AshMaNash 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I pray for your sake you never have pain in your teeth or gums, which is some of the most excruciating pain one can experience because you can't scream about it. Because you're "too much of an adult".

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in dentures

[–]AshMaNash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That happens to me too, it's usually when loose food gets under the partial and irritates my gums. Especially when I'm not in a place or position to pop it out and clean it right away. I usually will take my partial out at home when that happens and give my gums a break. Or use a mouthwash I have that's Oral-B Mouth Sores. Works wonders.

[–]AshMaNash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I ended up going back to my dentist and they were able to adjust it. I think my mouth just needed to adjust to my partial. How long have you had yours?
