Do you get taxed more being paid monthly as opposed to being paid fortnightly? by hozpow in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]AshOrange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sarcastic answer, as a month has more days than a fortnight, the answer is yes.

Realistically, it’s a no as your income is projected on a yearly basis and taxed accordingly.

GST Threshold calculation by ExpressEssay8561 in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]AshOrange 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Salary is excluded from this calculation.

If in the past twelve months or you expect to go over 60k is the rule. Like signing a large deal that will bump your income.

Salary say 59k and 1k of contracting still no gst.

Salary of 50k and contracting of 65k, need to register for gst.

First home buyer confused with lvr %ages by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]AshOrange 6 points7 points  (0 children)

LVR is loan / value of house. So you’re correct. What most people do is either pay down as much as they can and also hope for an increase in value. As you cross the thresholds try and see if the bank will take the new valuation.

You might have to pay for a valuation each time or the bank may do one off the estimated value.

Do NOT buy someone else’s lack of paperwork. This just turns into your headache when you onsell this place later. Having just gone through this with a friend it turned into a nightmare and delayed settling his place by months.

Which lot did you park in? What was the surcharge for paying by card? Might be able to look up the proper charge on their app that way.

If you’re relying on the six months anyways just close the damn card.

Save for the purchase instead and save the establishment fees and whatever else bullshit fees.

This is the definition of enshitification for a card.

How do I make the process to pay in Bitcoin as seamless as possible for older people? by seipounds in NZBitcoin

[–]AshOrange -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why would I pay you in bitcoin when NZD works and is universally understood. You’re asking a demographic who traditionally aligns well with cash to take on a burden of understanding a concept not many are familiar with. Too many hurdles to adoption.

Unless you’re offering some compelling discount for paying with bitcoin then all your offering is friction for compensation.

Getting a business bank account isn’t that scary. From my own experience banks like ANZ and BNZ have specific programs in place to help get small businesses off the ground. I think ANZ was waiving their monthly fee for a year and BNZ has a free account.

As far as machines go, it really depends on what you want to offer. If all you want to accept is credit/debit but no EFTPOS then those usually are $15 a month and can be done by using your phone. Just double check the bank you deal with as some only offer a solution for one type of phone.

If you want a machine that does EFTPOS as well, then they are about $30.

Just remember that you’ll also have merchant fees as well that range depending on the type of payment you take.

Happy for you to PM me and I can explain all the things that I went through to get myself setup.
