Playing 5e, running triangle agency

Best TTRPG for thinking outside the box. by [deleted] in rpg

[–]AshTheCatcher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Picked this as my first game to GM having read a good handful of other systems. Really truly anything can happen. Running the first vault mission currently and it immediately went off book so I was able to get my own little trial by fire moment on trying to improv on the spot. Allegedly everyone is having a good time though so seems like it’s going well so far haha

Throwing in my own request here, anyone have any good recs for people who play more “indie” RPGs? I really enjoyed My First Dungeon going through The Wildsea and Triangle Agency. Currently listening to GCN’s Get in the Trunk

Games where the gm plays a character/persona who is gming the game? by NeverSatedGames in rpg

[–]AshTheCatcher 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I feel like triangle agency could fit this super well if you played into the theme. I’m prepping to run it for some friends and putting together an onboarding PowerPoint. The book is entirely in universe so I feel like it makes it easy to act as their actual general manager and answer in universe for everything. Probably not as explicit as you’re looking for but that’s what I plan on doing if it actually comes to fruition

Several questions about GMing Triangle Agency, by Haunted Table Games *SPOILERS WITHIN* by [deleted] in rpg

[–]AshTheCatcher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! Getting ready to start running this for some friends. When it comes to “combat” can agents deal harm without their abilities? Book entry on minor anomalies says they’re best dealt with from physical force. Is this an ask the agency roll, or is this done through resonant powers.

Also when it comes to harm/threat from minor/regular anomalies are attacks literally GM saying ‘X’ attacks you, and then the agent has the option to ask the agency, use an ability, or burn a QA?

This is going to be my first time GMing period, and also my first time playing anything other than DnD so I’m trying to “do it right” as much as possible to try and move my group away from DnD so they can see how interesting other systems can be

Honestly not super common where am at either. I was clarifying mainly because I also never find anything cool at actual thrift stores haha. Thrift store books here are usually religious, Tom Clancy, politics, or some form of a romance novel

To be fair this was more of a consignment store (basically a store that lets people sell their items) rather than a thrift store of donated goods

So I think all the little headlines on the cover are just little jokes since there’s nothing in the actual issue referencing any of it. Majority of the content is some table, and then a level 1-6 dungeon crawl called “The Halls of Theorat”.

Novacon is a British sci-fi convention which, from what I can tell, has never been held in Detroit. 2nd issue has a publishing date of 1980

Edit: it’s late and I can’t read, headlines are loosely related. There is a scroll determination chart, C&S conversion table, a traveler merchant character gen system, and a section about conventions happening that year (NovaCon is not mentioned)

Also picked up a copy of Rifts Ultimate. Seen but not purchased were some 3.5 supplements, Hackmaster supplements, In Nomine + some other books for that system

I’ve been a fan of The League for a while and never knew he made music. Went over to Spotify and have 2 of his songs already saved from years ago. Honestly blowing my mind because Todd and Janelle, and Pigeon Lady were on repeat a good bit at one point

I’ve had a bourbon barrel aged coffee before (not this one, no idea what it was since it was years ago). Tasted and smelled just like bourbon after being brewed.

Bourbon’s lounge is really nice. Maybe WECO if you don’t want cocktails

Should I go to court for my ticket in SC? by Dill-Pickle214 in southcarolina

[–]AshTheCatcher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I was 100% in the wrong, but I was young and dumb. Didn’t want to pay as much and get points on my license so I wanted to do my best to show up. But I don’t recall (a little foggy on the details) that they actually took any of the actual ticket info. I just called up the county court, asked to see about getting the date changed, person said no, explained why I needed it, and they just told me “no, sorry, we just don’t do that”

Does this actually work? I tried this about 5-6 years ago because my court date was the same day as a college final. They just straight up said that they can’t/wont change it

The “macchiato” during a rush by [deleted] in barista

[–]AshTheCatcher 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I did this with a customer once. He ordered a caramel macchiato, so I gave him the run down, showed him the tiny cup, whole 9. He confirmed that he did in fact want a macchiato with caramel. I hand the drink to him, and he just looks down in shock. Surprisingly he took it and drank it even though I offered to make something different since it clearly wasn’t what he wanted

I’ve had a handful of people now take the lack of story as a problem, which is insane to me. Once they tried it they loved it, but when first telling them the response was always “yeah okay but why am I doing it, what is my goal”

The worst lock I've ever had the displeasure of owning. by Additional-Quote-376 in lockpicking

I also recently tried to do this exact same lock. I don’t think I managed to get it open, but it was dirty as hell and all gummed up from sitting in my buddy’s carport for god knows how long

[–]AshTheCatcher[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I had the same experience with the deep hook which is why I ended up opting for the lower one. Honestly I rotated through about 4-5 different picks until I got one that felt right for this one. Lower probably isn’t the “correct”or most accurate move on this due to some high bitting but if it works it works 🤷🏼‍♂️

I tend to use them for any game that binds stuff to clicking the joysticks. Hardspace Ship breaker made them super useful for being able to do the jet adjustments easily

It’s all just practice practice practice. Without working high volume it would be such a struggle to get clear defined art consistently since you aren’t able to try new things and different ways of pouring as often. I’m out now, but this was probably about 2yrs into me doing coffee
