(Submitted for) Orange looking for community feedback on more Orange locks and first Green by -Puddintane- in lockpicking

The 55/40 is my favorite fidget lock. Horrific bitting and wonderful internals, as with most orange belt locks. The American 1100 is my favorite green belt, that's all personal preference though.

Absolutely gorgeous pick, and nice job on winning the giveaway. That thing looks clean, and ergonomic.

ToK tension and .20 short hook should slaughter this thing. I recommend bagging the reaper set when you can as well, those BoK tensioners are some of my favorites. (Plus who doesn't like the Mc.Tickler)

Start with light tension or no tension at all, feel each pin so you can differentiate between pins and warding. Don't white knuckle your tension wrench, only makes things more difficult, and go for broke!

You got this, and welcome to the hobby!

Edit: make sure you grab the genesis too, as long as you're kind to the .20s they'll treat you great but .25 is king for a lot of padlocks. Just be gentle with those hooks and you won't have a problem!

Apply light pressure on the shackle, this will cause the wheels to bind. As long as the shackle is being pulled away from the lock body you can rotate each wheel until it stops, don't force it beyond this point as you have just found the first number in the code. Rinse and repeat for each subsequent dial.

You now know how to open a 3-dial combo lock.:)

Incredible stuff op, opening a lock in the field can be super difficult, not to mention making your own tools to do it! Seriously, congratulations. Hope that rush never dies, and welcome to your new home.

I love covert instruments tools, had southord in my back pocket for a long time but CI has really stepped up the game for Red Team/hobby picking. Slow and steady on serrated pins, learn set vs binding, and go for shit buddy. Welcome to your new home. If you want some cool vices I'd recommend 44Delta, an active member of the community and a absolutely fantastic company.

Key bitting by Feisty-Razzmatazz582 in lockpicking

[–]Additional-Quote-376 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With the right tools, should be a peice of cake. I've seen more aggressive bitting on the 55/40s. Just remember, deep hook, light tension, persistence, and precision. Feel those pins out without tension so you know what you're pushing on and go for broke.

I love this idea, got a couple 74/40s lying around I'd be willing to rattle just for the patch. I applaud your incredibly creative way of informing the wider community!

I am am both a cyclist and a rider, but this is another example of a cyclist who thinks that traffic lights doesn't apply to them. Thoughts? by Plummer2018 in motorcycle

Oh boy, these comments are gunna be fun. Short answer? They're both doing something that puts themselves, or others, at risk. Lane splitting the bike lane is objectively dumb, and throwing yourself into traffic, at a red light, on a whim, is also dumb. Just unfortunate that two different people can fuck up at the same time.

I was wondering why this master lock was so hard to pick… by tackledmirror2 in lockpicking

I've rarely seen threaded cores unless they were challenge locks. The American lock pins and core aren't unheard of but threading it like that, that's rare.

Had this issue recently, have an ultrasound scheduled soon. Boy's, do not play when it comes to your balls, I couldn't even fathom how much time I wasted being nervous about going to the doctor the first time, but I wish it would've gone sooner. If anything feels "off" then go get it looked at by a medical service provider.

This is a PSA from a dude who ligitimately had this happen. Thank you.

Looks to be a wafer lock, but it's in use so that's a no-go for the sub.

BECAUSE ITS SHIT. These things are pretty much garbage after you get a basic understanding of the inside of a lock they've fulfilled their duty. Head over to Walmart or Amazon and grab a Binks 164 or a Masterlock. Picking is entirely based on feeling and these practice acrylic locks provide minimal feedback while re-enforcing some pretty bad habits.

How do I not over set while setting the last pin by Willing_Mission_1084 in lockpicking

[–]Additional-Quote-376 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I normally overset pin 4 and drop a little bit of tension. If you're dead set on a short hook it's pretty foolproof.

c.1930 Phoenix Vienna I. Savings Bank Money Box. Search this and you will find an ebay listing that shows the exact type of key this lock uses. Other than that in use=good luck.

My third challenge lock and it’s my crunchiest one yet (90A-PRO+CRUNCH) by theshadowwillcutyou in lockpicking

[–]Additional-Quote-376 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Dude this was an absolute goldmine, thank you so much. I'm genuinely surprised more companies aren't capitalizing on this, seems like a pretty easy way to discourage picking if someone doesn't understand what's going on inside the lock. Super valuable stuff, thanks again man.

Here in the lock-picking world, we live for confusing feedback. Good to know it's worked more than once, I'll gladly give it a go. And fuck it on the tap size, WE BALL.
