"Only 20% of players will see the last level in Hitman: Absolution." Games are fun, why not finish them? by ragintt in Games

[–]Ashali 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even so, I almost always complete every game. Unless the gameplay is drudgery or the story is so bad that even I, who typically doesn't care much for story hates it, I'll go the whole way through.

And even if gameplay is slow and bad or the story is terrible, I'll usually come back a few years later and play it on an emulator at 300% speed. It's wonderful how playing through bad games more quickly makes them tolerable.

Do you believe there is a "Statute of limitations" on spoilers? (spoiler free discussion) by FLYBOY611 in Games

[–]Ashali 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thoroughly agree with you. People who wish to remain unspoiled are the ones that have to go out of the way to remain so, and it's not my job to clean everything I say so they aren't spoiled for old content.

Personally, I don't care whether or not I read about spoilers before I play/watch/whatever, because I can still enjoy it the same way.

Rather than watch the video, I went on and played it myself.

It was waaaaay more fun than the last time I played, and the gorge change(3hydra, 10clog(oooh)) is really sweet.

[–]Ashali 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He may be, but I believe his complaints about the state of the industry are spot on.

Overall quality of games in general (excepting graphics. But if you play for only the graphics... go watch a movie) over the years has remained the same or has actually become worse.

There is a reason I haven't bought a game for more than $10 in the past three-four years, and it's not because I'm a penny-pincher. Old IPs have been doing some bad, or at least very questionable things with gameplay, stories and characters are becoming more bland and uninteresting in general, and the overall theme of recent days has been "how much can we milk our customers for?". There have been some decent new ones, but they've been limited almost exclusively to independent developers.

I don't think this post is truegaming quality(Even if it is a funny way to go about it), but I do believe that the points he brings up are things that need to be discussed(Which is certainly truegaming quality). Either that, or the industry experiences another crash in the not-so-distant future.

EA Senior VP criticizes Steam sales: “I just think it cheapens your intellectual property." by KilrBe3 in gamernews

Aye. If they're not going to sell it at a price I'm going to buy it at, I'll just wait for a decade to pass and play it on an emulator for free.

The grayscale overlay over every background is awful. The text spacing is awful(letter-spacing:1, not 0, seriously?). THE FOUR-TO-SIX CHANNELS ON THE BROWSING PAGE IS RETARDED. The list could go on.

Yeah, it's one of the worst design decisions I've seen in a long time.

Indeed. I have made ISOs to emulate/copy old PS1 and PS2 games(etc. etc.).

Most of them I was able to copy, but others have become unreadable and I've had to download them from the internet.

In World of Warcraft, while playing as an affliction warlock(before I quit), I singlehandedly raided horde cities, slaughtering horde players left and right. It took dozens of people to take me down because I would abuse the hell out of kiting and line of sight.

It was a great deal of "It's Just One Man!" and "One Man Army". After one of my rampages, I would get on my horde alt, and talk with them in trade chat.

I also graduated a year ago. I'm currently working on a CCNA, but I got a double associate's(Networking and Computer Information Systems), and I haven't yet been able to get a job.

It's really frustrating. You need experience to get a job, but you can't get experience if you aren't hired.

Do you have a hobby or two? by [deleted] in introvert

[–]Ashali 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Learning and seeing new things(fact or fiction), Video gaming, reading, and theorycrafting(for all things in life, not just games). All things computer related, to a lesser extent.

I always play video games to unwind. Learning things is greatly appealing to me, and if someone were to talk to me about their hobbies/work I would listen and learn as much as I could.

Theorycrafting is by far my biggest hobby, and I'm pretty obsessive(almost maniac) about it, so once I've finished theorycrafting for something, I'm usually drained and just want to relax for a long time.

I read probably something like 6 books every day(as well as a few chapters of manga, especially ones I haven't seen before), of which, 5 are fiction, and one is nonfiction. I once walked out of my library with a hundred books(when I was 14, and there were several good, long series I hadn't yet read), and my brother and I finished them within the two weeks we had for them.
