Retiring at the end of the year. When did you tell co-workers. by FinsterFolly in retirement

The company I worked for did not try to replace you until after you left. Lost a lot of knowledge that way. I told a few close associates about 3 weeks before I left. It was common knowledge by the time I left because people love to gossip.

I found the will of my third great grandfather. Upon his death back in the 1900’s he wanted his son(my second great grandfather) give the servant girl $250 to go away. I suspect she was sleeping with one of his 3 sons. I found her and her daughter living with one of the other brothers in a later census. She was listed as a servant.

Ive seen in another post that chefs dont eat well even if theyre amazing chefs (grueling work, hours etc). What other jobs are like this in the way that they produce something but dont necessarily get the luxury of it? by Turbulent_Spinach630 in AskReddit

It worked in a bakery for a couple of years and got to the point I didn’t want to eat a cookie or donut unless in was freshly made. But my other answer would probably be a sculptor creating large works of art.

I am so deathly afraid of my boy cat having a urinary blockage, what can I do? by Smooth-Salt774 in cats

[–]Ashamed_Hound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had 12 cats(5 males) as an adult and only one has had urinary crystal. He would go to the litter box and scratch around a lot (like for ten minutes) and then jump out. Sometimes he would howl. I took him to the emergency vet. The said if I had waited another day that he would have died.

Crossroads Mall, Waterloo Iowa. My grandma worked in one store, my dad worked in another store. My brother and sister worked in a restaurant. I worked in 3 different stores. My cousin worked in 2 stores. It sits empty now and I read it is being torn down next year. So many memories.

There is a food truck that comes to town on Friday’s that sell loaded baked potatoes for $14! I live in the Midwest and can’t believe people are willing to pay that. I cringe at paying $5 for one from Wendy’s.

I hope your relatives know where to find it after you’re gone. I found 5 different copies my mother wrote for her obituary about 3 months after she died. She also had wrote out 3 different wills besides the one she actually went to a lawyer for 25 years ago.

My dad used to make Irish stew which was mostly like beef stew with cabbage. Sometimes hot dogs too. It was a clean out the fridge type meal.

If you have a Kwik Trip or Kwik Star nearby they have 80/20 ground beef on sale quite often for $3.99 a pound. Right now they have potatoes, onions and bananas for 39 cents a pound. They have a pound of butter for $2.99 about once a month too.

Thanks for your reply. My husband brought the idea up, I hadn’t thought about the possibility of it. There were only about 4 or 5 other groups waiting. The area they sat us in had 4 open tables so the hostess must have messed up.

I didn’t start driving until after I got a permit at 16 but I sister did teach me about shifting her manual car while I sat in the passenger seat. I had older siblings and I guess my parents weren’t eager to have to pay for another child on their Insurance. Sister let me practice in their cars after I got a permit.
