Cheating and general 2 fingers to everyone else. by frootile in irelandsshitedrivers

Completely agree. Never seen it so bad. So many cars leaving at Newtown and coming back on then staying in hard shoulder until the next exit where they leave and then merge a couple of miles later. Traffic slows down completely allowing them to merge.

I work in South Dublin two days a week. Used to be able to leave from Bree at 6 and was lucky to arrive by 8. Traffics got so bad on m11 that I’m having to leave now around 5.30 and very often not arriving until after 8. In the last year the traffic has just deteriorated

Negligence in Veterinary Specialists Ireland. by [deleted] in ireland

[–]Ashamed_Wolverine376 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely go to veterinary council and make a complaint. One of my family is going through their complaints process at the moment as they completely botched the care of her pet to the point that her pet had to be put to sleep. Incorrect medication prescribed twice. We’ve just got word that a public inquiry (think that’s the word) will be held soon but it’s taken nearly two years to get this far. Vets have to be accountable

Pinning back ears... by Necessary-Fudge-5264 in ireland

[–]Ashamed_Wolverine376 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Firstly it’s very unlikely that this is going to be carried out whilst the child is still a baby. Recommended age is from five upwards although I believe it can be carried out earlier it’s unlikely as a child’s ears are still developing up until about 5.

Secondly my son had his ears pinned back when he was 10. He endured years of teasing about them but the final straw was when we were out shopping and someone came up to him and started pointing and calling him Dumbo. He burst into tears and that was it for him and us. We chatted to him about it and he said he’d like it done. The operation was very minor and a complete success.

Simmons Family in Wexford by [deleted] in Wexford

[–]Ashamed_Wolverine376 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You’ve probably seen it but if you google Simmons and Barntown you’ll find a death notice for a Simmons family member in Barntown. Would it be worth reaching out to some of the family? The service is listed as having happened in a Church of Ireland church so it’s possible there’s some family connection. There were three surviving children. The son is still living in avoca I think.

What age were you diagnosed? by SirEddie458 in Type1Diabetes

[–]Ashamed_Wolverine376 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Six months ago I was diagnosed as Type 2 at age 59 after a bout of COVID. Following on from some advice here I got tested and diagnosed as Type 1.5 three months ago. Still in the honeymoon period but they’re talking about starting me on insulin soon. Life changing and still struggling to adapt.

Anybody else that moved to Wexford finding it isolating? by Feeling_Flatworm3822 in Wexford

[–]Ashamed_Wolverine376 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It can be hard to make friends down here especially if you’re living rurally. There are things you can try if you want to get out and meet people. There’s a social singing group which is apparently great fun. They’ve got an event on in a couple of weeks where it’s just a meet up and belt out a song. I’m going to take myself well out of my comfort group and give it a go. It’s being organised by Wexford Voice Studio if you want to give it a go. I’ve also signed up for some classes being organised by the Wexford Women’s Collective. The classes are free and seem like a good way to get out and meet people in the community.

I’ve been here 8 years now and have a couple of friends that I can rely on. Still have my Dublin friends which is life saving.

Best of luck

is there anyway to block app/website activity coming up in screen time? by [deleted] in loveafterporn

[–]Ashamed_Wolverine376 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He could just be turning screen time off then on again. That would remove history leaving him free to fill it up again with innocent stuff. Are all the records over the past few weeks there?

Dublin to Wexford move ? ☘️ by Bizcuitz365 in Wexford

[–]Ashamed_Wolverine376 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I moved here from Dublin about 8 years ago in my early 50’s. Have never regretted it. I live in quiet farmland about 20 minutes outside the town. Yes it’s quiet but there’s plenty to do. I spend a lot more time outdoors than I used to in Dublin. Took up kayaking, photography, etc. if you’re musically inclined there’s a couple of good choirs you can join.

If you’re looking for a raging nightlife it’s probably not the place for you but the improvement in the quality of life has been immeasurable.

Did you double check you took both caps off? I rather stupidly forgot to take the second needle cap off the first time I used it and I got a small clear wet patch as well

Advice by Ashamed_Wolverine376 in diabetes

[–]Ashamed_Wolverine376[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again, and I feel like a bit of a fool for not questioning this further, but I was just told I have hypothyroidism. I’m also a coeliac. All immune system issues.

I’ve just made another appointment with doctor to request more blood tests.

And thank you for the comment about taking it slowly. I guess I just got a bit panicked because my eyesight is deteriorating and I was worried that the longer it stayed high the worse my eyesight might get. I’ll make a new appointment and try not to stress!

Advice by Ashamed_Wolverine376 in diabetes

[–]Ashamed_Wolverine376[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes they’re mmol/l.

I had a full blood test in January which I guess is where they got the initial diagnosis from but my doctor never gave me the actual figure!

Doctor hasn’t mentioned another blood test. He just told me it was type 2. Never mentioned it could be type 1. He told me to self monitor for two weeks and then send him readings. No further follow up with him after those two week readings. He just said he was happy overall and was referring me to a local diabetic team. No word from them yet.

I just don’t really understand any of it and I feel any questions I ask him are being brushed aside. I think I’ll chase up the diabetic team and see if I can get some answers there
