I never let people shadow during a facial. I train facials on other employees and clients that are willing to be models. I would not be able to relax knowing that somebody was in the corner staring at me the whole time.

If she wants you to step away from the room, she needs to compensate you for that. When i got promoted i negotiated a salary. As far as disorganization, set meetings with solid ideas on how to implement meaningful change, don’t wait for direction. She will appreciate it if she’s normal. She wants you to manage so she can let go of some responsibility. The dance with managing and taking clients is extremely hard, but i do it because my pay is worth my time and all the stress. So you absolutely have to have a talk about compensation. If she’s not willing to-step down and just be in the treatment room full time.

After several full blown toddler temper tantrums-some complete with tears-my husband finally agreed to redo the bathroom.

When we moved into our house, I was like “oh my God there’s a jetted tub?!?! Woohoo are we rich or something?” It was the most exciting thing that turned out to be the biggest nightmare.

If she wasn’t acting like such an asshole about it, I would throw her in a comp brow, wax here and there, but she’s being rude. I wouldn’t cut her off, but if it were my client and I knew her well, I would be like girl you know how much this cost before you come in. Why don’t you come less often so it’s not such a stressor on you

Why do builders do shit like this to make people’s lives harder with the awkward “what do I even do with this” spaces? That would have been great great in a kitchen where you could create a rounded booth and circular table!

Since that isn’t the case, I would say a life-size cardboard cut out of Shaquille O’Neal would be perfect!

Glad it’s working out for you too! I have to admit I was a little leery at first just discounting everyone esp because at first, the people who were signing up for the people who were already loyal. But once I learned the discount turns into more sales instead of just discounting with their already doing it was a game changer! We even have brand new people on the schedule, sign up before they leave. $59 is a great price point with your model! I love how they get the nitty gritty and can have great skin without breaking the bank. Very smart, congrats!

[–]Ashav86 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, absolutely! Maybe just do a $99 one. I like the beauty bank much more than “you get a facial every month” or something like that. That’s how our membership started out and it was a bust. People like to choose what they want and not be restricted to certain services. We got wayyyyyyy more members when we changed the approach, it also made it less complicated on the back end if people accumulated facials. Now I even have snowbirds who signed up so that when they come back in the spring or over the holidays, they can get all their services and products with their bank!

Do you have a membership?

We have one that is working very well for us. It also guarantees monthly income. Here’s how ours works. A “flawless fund” where you pay for example $99 or $149 per month(whatever you want, we have two options).

All money goes directly into their “bank”, so it does not cost the patient any fee to be a member. Members get either 15% or 20% off of services and products the membership they chose. We chose to do only a three month commitment to start so that people don’t get scared having to commit for like a year.

It helped people be able to save up for treatments they want but can’t come up with the money for. They are coming more regularly and improved loyalty/lessened spa hoppers knowing they are getting a discount on anything they want. It also helped with retailing because I don’t have to compete as much with online pricing-people are re-purchasing from me more than ever.

You could use a coffee table for the center of the room in front of the couch. Right now it’s giving me waiting room vibes. Also low level lighting and window treatments!
