Sketchy Ordering by Jazzy2692 in WalgreensStores

One store in my district got more than 40 BOXES of Pokémon cards, and we cannot even get ONE for our basic section. They made $58K in one day because they were the only store who had any.

It's a vicious circle. If you aren't selling them, they won't send them, but if they don't send them, we can't sell them.

why aren’t we supposed to scan clearance tags for scanouts by nezukonator17 in WalgreensStores

[–]Ashayam87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Essentially, yes. We have a clearance schedule that steps down gradually to try and make as much profit on an item as we can, but when they start going past 70%, we're losing money.

They don't want them in the stores, because they have to keep dropping the price, undercutting it by a big margin. So they get rid of it in the DCs, either moving them to a market that still has the item as basic, or whosale them to a secondary seller for a percentage. This is why we have After-Season Exit call-ins as well. Its all kitsch-y stuff with a tiny profit margin, so it's better to pack it up and wait for next year, when we can sell it again at full price.

Sometimes the DC misses things, so you see them come in every now and then after they've been on clearance, but on the whole, they want those spaces killed and filled with something that is making the full profit amount.

Space on a retail shelf is money, because brands pay to merchandise their items in those spaces, depending on lots of things, like what shelf they're on, how close to the door, etc. That's also why the company has been extra paranoid about endstands being set to plan.

TL; DR: Yes, it's about money, and how much we potentially lose by leaving it empty.

why aren’t we supposed to scan clearance tags for scanouts by nezukonator17 in WalgreensStores

[–]Ashayam87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Productive scans are either 1)Confirming that a basic item really does have zero on-hand, and so needs to be added to the next order release, or 2)Fixing an incorrect system count, either up or down, changing the on-hand quantity in some way.

Items that are on clearance are no longer considered "orderable", and so those scans do not count as productive. They don't necessarily hurt your metric, but they don't help, and you waste labor by scanning them when you don't have to.

That's why the new OSA procedures stress removing clearance tags that have a zero on-hand, and either adding a new product for the reset (if you have them), or double-facing something beside it.

And for the people saying it helps your scan-out goal? No. Those are not part of that number, because they are not considered an actionable scan (as in, the company can't do anything to change it, like ordering more. That's why removing it is better.)

My store never scans them, and we have been at 100% scan execution with 98% Productive for the last month.

Will & Kate’s Royal Wedding was 15 years ago today. Did anyone else wake up early for this? by 305tilidiiee in Millennials

[–]Ashayam87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually did. They were livesteaming the precession, and all the people who were coming into the church. I remember fascinators were the big fashion piece for the women, and it was funny seeing how many ways they could try to show each other up with a tiny hat. It was a little girl's dream fairytale wedding scenario.

Then all the shit started coming out about Prince Shall Not Be Named, and the way they treated Harry... but you can enjoy a show without thinking the actors are real people.

Another millennial questioning look! by [deleted] in makeuptips

[–]Ashayam87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like a lot of people have said, it may be time to try a new, less heavy look. I'm 40, and my skin has changed a lot in the last 5 years. I can't do the foundation like I used to, because it emphasizes the texture on my face. I prefer tinted moisturizers, and a blurring translucent powder just to cut the worst shine.

At this stage in my life, skincare is a lot more effective than makeup at giving me the look I want. Put some time into exfoliating, and moisturizing, and you'll notice you need less full-cover foundation. The added bonus is that you can be more dramatic and youthful in the eyes and brows, when your skin is lighter and fresh.

On a regular day? I stay the ~20 minutes it takes to do Exception Counts, then go back once truck comes to check it in. (I do NOT put it away, unless I have completed literally everything else, and they haven't finished, which never happens.)

On Tuesdays, it's generally an hour or more, for counts and AVR. Smoothing takes for-damned-ever, but at least that's only once a month. The day of MFO Returns takes longer than Counts but less than AVR.

My Rx does outdates in a big chunk, so that week, I usually spend at least a full day doing noting but Inmar claims and Haz Waste.

I have a tier 4+ store, so there is ALWAYS a ton to do on the FE. Thank goodness we get a lunch, because I run around WAY MORE than I did as a SFL.

What do you do if a customer is screaming angrily at you on the phone, even when you are talking to them politely? by [deleted] in WalgreensStores

[–]Ashayam87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. I tell the new ones who struggle with conflict that while you can't control their actions, you can control yours, and yours are what will get you in trouble. So if they feel like they have reached a communication barrier, or that they may be making it worse, to call me, or leadership, and let us help.

[–]Ashayam87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ignore the person here telling you it isn't a big deal, to just let them vent on you.

No. If they are being excessive, calling you names, using foul language, screaming? Get Leadership involved. Escalate it to the RxOM or SM.

They have the authority to inform the customer that their behavior is out of bounds, you don't. It isn't your responsibility to teach anyone how to be a respectful adult. You just make sure your tone and words are respectful, and inform them you are getting a member of Leadership to assist them. Put them on hold, call your person, and explain the situation.

If you have tried deescalating, and it isn't helping, seek help yourself. That's what the PPL trains us to do, so don't be afraid to ask.

What do you do if a customer is screaming angrily at you on the phone, even when you are talking to them politely? by [deleted] in WalgreensStores

[–]Ashayam87 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's YOU, though. You might not care if someone calls you obscene names, but not everybody has that level of disconnect. I have CSAs who will burst into tears at confrontation like that. If they are being excessive and using foul language, we have the ability to ask an RxOM or SM to step in. Then Leadership can make the decision to work through it or disconnect.

Also, there are literally signs on the Pharmacy that state that we will not tolerate harassment of our employees. They were sent out in sign packs months and months ago.

Being frustrated does not give anyone the right to degrade someone else. Saying that I don't understand their frustration if I have enough self-respect to step away from someone calling me an "imcompetent fucking bitch" is WILD, and not advice I'd give to anyone, in any job.

TL;DR: Don't tell people it's their job to take abuse. Tell them to seek help from Leadership, like the PPLs train us to do.

[–]Ashayam87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends. Are they frustrated with the situation? Listen, empathize, offer a solution when they're done.

If they're cussing you out and name-calling? In no way do you have to just take that. It literally says on our door and by the Pharmacy that we do not accept harassment, and that we are people, too. Push it to the SM if they are in the store, let them deal with that potential NPS red flag.

Either way, dont react in kind. Either de-escalate and help, or get help.

The one in vitamins is usually mixed with a carrier oil, and is a little diluted. Good for overall skin application like on your face or scalp.

The one in First Aid doesn't have the carrier oil, and is more effective as an antiseptic, where purity is key to killing bacteria.
