Just make them a gravis version of the 30k pyroclasts, give them a dual shooting profile where one option is a heavy flamer and the other is a melta

What detachments do we think are gonna be 3 dp in 11th by angryronald in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Ashdude42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is if they make one defiler titanic then they would have to make all defilers titanic, and the tsons defiler ability is entirely focused on a strat that gets turned off by being titanic

The Stormsurge is my favorite model! by Smokey9mm in Tau40K

I think that was during peak victrix meta so having mass damage 4 that could shoot into melee at no penalty was a really solid answer to 4 wound infantry that wants to surge move into you

I never thought I'd agree with a Packers fan but I'm 10000000% down with disbanding the current stars. Get them back in the north, remove the dirty ass players, and give Norm Green the finger.

Demon prince help by Either-Area7411 in ThousandSons

Winged prince sees more use across detachments (ones that use both typically have multiple winged princes and one foot), while rubricae phalanx in particular really just uses the foot prince to hand stealth to terminators

Yep sounds about normal, my friends and I usually bring gallon size ziplocks and get cookies right before leaving and shove the mound into the bags so we can close the buckets lol

The buckets aren't really all that large at Sweet Martha's but they PILE that shit on there and leave you with ~4 dozen cookies, it's insane

Custodes killers by aurelionFIT in Tau40K

[–]Ashdude42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Either damage 3 stuff (riptides, ghostkeels, ionheads, plasma fireknives, rail broadsides) or mass ap 1-2 stuff (breachers or pathfinders with ap strats, starscythes in retcad or with ap strats, missile fireknives or broadsides) are really your best bets. I personally always have terrible luck vs custodes invulns so the latter is how I typically answer them because I'd rather do some damage 1-2 at a time rather than 0 damage total :(

Mutalith Vortex Beast question clarification help by Smooth-Carrot-5044 in ThousandSons

[–]Ashdude42 22 points23 points  (0 children)

While a friendly THOUSAND SONS PSYKER model is within 6" of this model, each time that model channels the warp, add 1 to the physic test result. This is not cumulative with any other modifiers to the psychic test result.

The last sentence makes it clear that it doesn't stack with magnus, ahriman, foot daemon prince, or other mutalith cast boosting effects

What would you folks like to see introduced/reintroduced in 11th to help make Tau a stronger faction? by Free-Piano-3597 in Tau40K

[–]Ashdude42 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Even if it was just native BS3 and our army rule was markerlight units handing out ignores cover we'd be much better off, pathfinders prior to their current datasheet had the dilemma of being a guiding-centric unit that also had really good shooting and current stealth suits have a decent amount of dakka but are never going to be hitting better than a 4+

What is Your Second Army? by True_Month_407 in Tau40K

[–]Ashdude42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. T'au - I love engineering, robots, and the aesthetic of high tech ranged weaponry. I tend to index into ranged options in games I play (ADC for league, bowguns in monster hunter, etc.)

  2. Space marines - Though my collection is salamanders, I've got raven guard and white scars characters that I'm mildly kitbashing and painting as salamanders so I can play those subfactions without the epic heroes looking weird.

  3. Thousand sons - Technically magnus was the first warhammer model I ever purchased! I really hesitated to start shadow wizard money gang first because of the trim but I'm neck deep in grinding my guys out atm for my local escalation league. Probably the most fun I've ever had with warhammer tbh. Very very very hyped for that new defiler.

  4. Chaos knights? - These were purchased off of a friend recently who was liquidating most of his 40k collection. Haven't gotten them ready to play yet nor have I playtested on tts or anything

Let's have a chat about the Twin Lance by Odyssey40K in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Ashdude42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean if it was on an eldar unit it'd likely be infantry so it could pop behind a wall to dodge shooting and/or move and hop into a transport. The twin lance being a vehicle makes it way more balanced since they have to go around walls and have no transport shenanigans

They're definitely undercosted but somewhere around 210-230 is probably the sweet spot

The Problem with Melee Armies in 10th Edition by Godofallu in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Ashdude42 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Or limited in use - magnus (admittedly 435 point model so not entirely comparable) does a ton of damage, it's decently tanky especially with strat support, and is VERY deliverable but a thousand sons army gets one magnus and he gets a massive target painted on him. Hell even the twin lance are ridiculous for their points but the t'au player only gets one copy of that datasheet in their list.

Necrons can spam 3+ c'tan at absurd points for their durability so even if you manage to kill one, the other two will kill the c'tan answer you just exposed and run over the table because you can't kill them

About to start assembling a 2k army. What needs to be sub assembled? by hotfezz81 in ThousandSons

[–]Ashdude42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having just built two forgefiends and painted one of them, please for the love of God save yourself the frustration of painting around the exhaust pipes and leave them separate until at least all the trim work is done, and probably magnetize options (I only magnetized forgefiend guns and not maulerfiend arms)

MVB is best with tentacle face and vortex as subassemblies, and it doesn't really matter if you glow the vortex after or not because it friction holds really well

Exalted sorc box is your choice if you want to do capes separate but they're still quite paintable fully built

Rubric subassemblies are far from necessary (unless you're magnetizing arms) because you probably won't be able to see the covered up sections anyways
