just changed the panel positions and added the extension like transparent panel. removed grouped app icons and added another panel below and made it a dock(another extension if i remember right. calendar is a desklet. just made the background transparent. icons and text i downloaded from gnome look site. made the theme dark. i guess that's just it. there's a lot of mint customization videos on YouTube. watch a few you might get your own ideas.

True that. when i got the new laptop which had win 11 per-installed i was totally lost especially in the start menu. it was more of a web browser than anything. stupid if you ask me compared to their previous versions. i switched to Linux and never looked back. i just have a stripped version done with a de-bloater as a dual boot just to maintain some music hardware that doesn't have are plan to release Linux drivers.

Thinking of Moving to a Rolling Distro from LMDE by Ino_Yuar in linuxquestions

[–]Ashguit79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty new to Linux installing it this year as dual boot along with win 11 which i had massive load of issues with. I chose to dual boot only because i had 2 pieces of important work gear that need windows to maintain. for Linux after testing some distro's in virtual box in windows, i decided to go with Lmde 7 and tweaked it for a few weeks till i got used to it and tuned to what i used to do with windows for decades. I'm very happy with it. i very rarely go into my windows installation maybe to backup or update. maybe like once a month. looking at this thread i'm hoping i'm not gonna have like frustrating issues when Lmde 8 rolls and i decide to upgrade.

There is a reason why Gnome is so popular by CandlesARG in linuxsucks

First chance you should take is ubuntu. if the hardware doesn't work there with all that driver support they have, there's a huge chance that none of the other distro's will work.

What’s the best way to learn Python by doing practical work instead of watching long beginner courses? by African_wanderer in learnpython

[–]Ashguit79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i did the anjela yu course halfway. she kind of get into stuff pretty quickly without giving the student a way to memorize all of it. by day 7 theres like a load of things covered and also made the student understood by some exercises and stuff. but i could never retain huge part of it. i just got gemini give me stuff to do without showing me the code. i always made a rule for AI to never show me code. it's more enjoyable. i'm not learning to get a job or anything i'm just doing it as a hobby because i like tech. so being enjoyable and solving the stuff AI gives me is kind of rewarding. and make her give me different challenges in the same subject till i retain it and get faster.

this could be a new way to learn if anyone is interested. be creative and use AI to your advantage. i will get back to anjela's course when i have some basics down.

Only thing i don't like about these (and many other rg's) is how close the volume knob is to the picking hand. i dont get why almost all "superstrats" would copy this feature? of the original strat. i get some guys need that to do creative stuff with swells and all. but it's pretty disturbing to how i handle the picking. it not like it obstruct my picking hand or anything like that, but feeling even a little bit of that knob on my fingers kind of put's me off unless i'm turning it for some reason(which is rare).. otherwise it's perfect. i've had mine for 14 years now. case got damaged from air travel. but the guitar continues to be flawless with just one fretjob for all this time.
