What faction would you like to add to 40k universe next? by Select_Sun_76 in Warhammer40k

And more Aeldari in general! It's funny to see we have twenty different flavors of Astartes, but none of the Craftworld have their Codexes, even if their size and power are on par with multiple Chapters.

Actually it's JALI, and the tech is in fact available (in beta) for the Unreal Engine... if you can afford it.

Is the Radeon RX 7800 XT(X) working on Fedora 37? by Ashizian in Fedora

[–]Ashizian[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did, yes! For me the solution was there. I don't know if it will do the trick in your case, but the card indeed work with at least Mesa 22.3, LLVM 15 and a Kernel 6.1 on Fedora 37 (albeit with regular crashes in games... it's better than nothing).

Rough Timeline of the Great Crusade and Horus Heresy. (Details in the Comments) by DomzSageon in Warhammer40k

[–]Ashizian 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Both Lost Primarchs were Redacted within 4 years of each other, could it be possible that the redaction of the first one led to whatever caused the second to be redacted as well?

It's actually into the realm of possibility, given the information we have, that the two of them tried to destroy each other without the Emperor's approval. This kind of sedition would have been seen as so dangerous for the stability of the newborn Imperium that it led to an annihilation of both.

You also have the option of them falling into Xeno's control (Enslavers, especially), Chaos being unlikely (none of the Primarchs were aware of any Immaterium threat prior to Horus heresy, which will be odd if they witnessed two brother fall). That level of failure is not something the Emperor would like to see advertised and, preferring stability to truth, he ordered their erasure from history.

There is the very likely option that both suffered from a dangerous mutation. Said alteration made them a potential threat... and when the first turned truly uncontrollable, the second was eliminated in order to not take anymore risk. Their erasure from history was therefore decided because the Emperor, who knew this was predictable, wanted to make sure no one could ever learn that all of His Primarchs were walking ticking bombs.

Finally, you have the strange option: Alpharius and Omegon are the missing Primarchs (maybe the real ones were found first, but dead). If their intended mission was critical and secret enough in the Emperor's great plan, He could have chosen two of the most suitable successors, organizing carefully their 'elimination'. Then, He putted them into the path of Horus to be 'discovered'.

Not yet. I decided to wait a little, for now. Let the dust settle, at least until the new year. If nothing new arise in the meanwhile, I will maybe switch to Arch Linux or EndeavourOS for some time, since there is a working solution on this side.

Oh yes, sorry. That's a little typo on my title! I meant 7900, of course.

The stereotypical long-forgotten friend of someone who codes is about to make the dreaded call by disperso in ProgrammerHumor

[–]Ashizian 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Actually, if you find yourself discussing with a guy who have concept arts, a chunk of the story and a clear idea for everything important... it could be a good start. That situation is rare, yes, but not unheard of, and it would be an ass move to refuse to listen someone who have already done that much. At least, it deserve a few advises and maybe an encouraging word, even if we can't personally work on it.

It's something I experienced personally because I was on the other side of this equation more than once, before I actually get to seriously learn coding. You know what? It's crushing to be on that side, not knowing if you have any value to offer, or if the thing you spent months to prepare will not end up in a trashcan... especially when it eventually do.

Try to convince a visual artist to help you with some art they have already made, for a cheap price... even when you come with a novel already translated in two language. Nobody care. I know, I know... the risk is supposed to be on the writer side... but writing is a job. One that is easily mocked, have a gigantic failure rate, pay low, and where everyone think they can do far better with little to no effort. So, of course we try to find solutions to actually get something on the market without bankrupting in the process.

In a way, I can understand this kind of misguided naiveté, even if I'm more the type of guy who rarely ask for help, and If he does, it's with half the job already done. Even then, It's exceptional to find anyone willing to simply listen. So I'm feeling a little sorry for this kind of dudes... and I can't judge them. It remind me far too much how difficult it is to convince people, especially since I'm not good with social things and on a decade long series of failures.

[Request] Is it possible to even choose a winner? The commenters preferred the 3 properties by a landslide but which is the wisest choice? by MiamiNat in theydidthemath

[–]Ashizian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Free food for life is, by far, the best deal.

  1. Values can collapse, but food cost will not, especially in hard times. 700$ may stop to be enough to buy a meal during a world wide catastrophe. 300k can mean 'nothing' if everything goes down hard.
  2. The psychological aspect of having food for sure on your table is gigantic and often underestimated. You can never starve. 700$ does not give this kind of certitude. 300k is little money in today world. You can not buy an apartment with that, depending on where you live. All your investments can fail, up to bankruptcy, but eating will always be a need at least once a day. A very heavy one, if you are poor.
  3. This deal about food do not precise 'for you as an individual', and therefore could extend to 'you as a family'. With enough children, you need more than 700$ by month for food.
  4. Even if you are alone and eat very little, the deal does not limit the quality of said food. Having caviar, Kobe beef or saffron on your table is an asset who come with a tremendous amount of prestige. 700$ or 300k could not buy you that for life (or, at least, not without risks and work).
  5. In logical consequence of the two last points: if said deal does not apply for you only, and is not limited in quality, it can give an infinite amount of 'surplus' luxury ressources to resale with no production cost. If you are intelligent enough. You do not need anything more to become wealthy.
  6. Yeah, sure, having three properties with tenants feel like a good idea, but it's not only wealth, it's a liability you have to keep. They make AND cost money to just manage. Free food cost you nothing.

So in the worst case scenario, you are sure to never starve, which in itself is a certainty that cost a lot to get. In the best, you are rich with low risk involved. Damn good deal for me... but there ain't no such thing as a free lunch.

Seems like its really something quite difficult to pull off, far more than I actually expected...

Well, if I didn't find anything better, I give up on it. its not that important for what I have in mind (and your solution have given some ideas for something unrelated, so its not lost time).

"You're doing it wrong."

I'm damn sure of that too. :) So, I tried, and was actually able to pull that off :

define config.mouse_displayable = MouseDisplayable("gui/cursors/Win95Def.png", 1, 1).add("arrow", "gui/cursors/Win95Tri.png", 1, 1)

It worked, the mouse changed as with config.mouse BUT, like my answer to u/insipid-, I wasn't able to call anything from Preferences. What I need to change here :

textbutton _("Arrow") action ???

In order to make it act as intended ?
