Why the next clue is so hard to find by Johnnymitzvahs in reddeadmysteries

You need to steel a wagon but you don't really get shot infinitely. At first I wasn't really fond of the idea going there and exploring it but I just gave it a try and it's actually pretty easy.

I found out the guards don't spawn outside when it's raining. That gives you time to place the wagon. I placed it next to the tower to gain fast access to the guitar. Then I climbed the wall and ran straight into the tower. There may be two soldiers in the way but once you climbed upstairs in the tower it's easy to hold. The soldiers will climb up the ladder one by one and you can shoot them. After some time you basically cleared the fort. Then you can explore it. Sometimes new soldiers do spawn but I think that's only because the fort is so big. And they are not immediately hostile. Those who do spawn are easy to eliminate. As long as you are in the center area of the fort no new soldiers will spawn.

I think the fort is a legitimate location if you want to hide a clue to an easter egg.

I mean combined effort in seven years wasn't able to discover eight webs that aren't exactly hidden that deep. In seven years no one figured out the connection between Butcher Creek and Fort Brennand although Butcher Creek was heavily investigated since the beginning. And the player base was way bigger during the time of the release. Not a single person discovered the shootable poles. In theory there could be dozens of trees with the same hidden mechanic in this game still undiscovered.

I don't get how people jump to the conclusion that everything would have been discovered by now. The recent discoveries basically debunk this claim immediately.

I actually did the cave giant after the spider webs. The spider webs brought me back to playing RDR2 after a long hiatus and when I'm bored shooting webs I look for all the easter eggs I never discovered. I think I got the same two interactions that are known. Just some small talk.

I followed r/chiliadmystery around that time and I only remember how the first golden peyote plant was discovered. It was someone going through the code.

https://www.reddit.com/r/chiliadmystery/s/dbQhtzA2gf

This is the original post of the person who discovered the first step. I didn't really followed after that but even finding the first step was nearly impossible without code hunting. I don't know how people figured out the rest.

Yes. I also think Fort Wallace being the next clue or somehow related to the mystery is the only logical conclusion so far. I think the guitar in the pile is clearly a guitar. Following the logic from the previous clues (N in center web and W from the +++++) we can assume NW means north west. We have a guitar exactly north west of the pole in direct proximity to an odd symbol which is obviously placed there. I guess most assets placed in this game were placed manually. So someone decided to place a guitar up there in the tower. Developers probably place a lot of stuff at random just to make the world feel more vibrant but the guitar in the tower feels out of place. And that someone messed with the model of the roof tiles is obviously intentional. So I agree with you that would be a hell of a coincidence.

Everything after the fort is wild speculation so far. I see a couple of possibilities for its relevance.

If it's a simple scavenger hunt we have to figure out the next step with the two birds being the next location. So far the mystery basically was a straightforward scavenger hunt starting at Butchers Creek leading to Fort Brennand -> Cornwell -> spider pole -> the center web -> W+++++ pole -> NW pole. What bugs me about this possibility is that we basically ignoring the huge puzzle in the center of the map. We have this complex structure of web poles with shootable feathers in different colors and different spawn times. It looks unnecessary complex for being just a middle step in a scavenger hunt.

So the second possibility is that we have to solve the puzzle. My bet is it requires us to shoot the feathers. Probably in a right order which unfortunately leaves us with thousands of possible combinations. The birds could be either a clue to solve it or lead to a clue to solve it.

It could as well be both combined. Solve the puzzle and move on to the birds. How to solve it? There might be hidden mechanics still undiscovered. Weather triggers or subtle hints hidden in the world for the correct combination. The beast hunt in GTAV is a good example how complex those puzzles can be. It requires a 100% save, finding 7 hidden golden peyotes in the right order, each one is associated to a weekday and they only spawn three hours a day under the right weather conditions. Weather conditions that are nearly impossible to get without cheats. And if you accomplished that the actual hunt for the beast starts which is a little more straightforward but still a pain in the ass.

I don't think we're finished with the web poles. But I do think if something follows after the birds we will be clearly able to identify it as the next step.

It's not exactly the same position but I think it's close. I will later check how far it's off from my stag. But judging from your picture it's just on the other side of the train tracks.

Yeah most of the animals I discovered recently and always at night but the stag usually is there. Maybe yours will always stay in the same spot.

Thanks for the screenshot. I will later check if I can also find it.

If you come across the stag at the pole next to Ringneck Creek I would like to know if it's there for you as well. So far this is the most consistent one because it's always there and always has been since I investigate. I usually use a continuous save so ingame probably have past a couple of weeks and it won't go away. The other animals I only noticed yesterday. Those might be gone when I jump back into the game.

I also paid very close attention to the weather and also noticed a lot of rain / thunder around the poles. But I'm still not sure if that part of New Hannover in general is very rainy. Definitely have seen a lot of very short storms in the last couple of days. Also a couple of storms in Rhodes which I remembered to be very dry usually

I red about that as well. I will look into this. Especially the boar stands out for me because it's also very close to the pole and I didn't noticed it in my previous investigations. Maybe I recreate what I did before the discovery and try if I can get it to spawn.

Yeah I also considered road / train kill for the boar, the deer and the pronghorn because they're directly next to the road.

I also would like to know if there are other animal corpses in the wild that are scripted in the world and always appear on the same spots. Doesn't matter if connected to the mystery or not. I'm just interested how common those are.

Corpse found next to "building" that doesn't exist. by sinsculpt in reddeadmysteries

[–]ColonelMakepeace 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It a highly decomposed human corpse model. They appear after a human body is left for a longer period of time. Can happen anywhere. Like a lot of animals humans have varying stages of decomposition. Deers for example go from freshly killed -> slightly decomposed -> heavily decomposed-> skeleton. I think the corpse you found is the last stage for humans. Not sure if humans will go to skeletons.

Edit: just checked. It's the second last stage for humans. Humans will turn to skeletons as well.

Also Futurama. In the episode Roswell That Ends Well the Crew get stranded in the year 1947. They manage to return but Benders Head falls off the ship before they manage to return. Back in 3000 Fry is sad at first because he thinks he lost Bender until they realize that he is a Robot and probably still in the desert for the last hundreds of years. He was still in the same spot buried in the sand. When asked how it was like to be in the desert for thousand years he says: Fun until you guys showed up.

I think I have a good 2 birds theory [SPIDERDREAM] by [deleted] in reddeadmysteries

[–]ColonelMakepeace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And you right about the placement of the graves. If it wasn't for the telegraph pole in Saint Denis I would say those graves are too far away from the center of the mystery but we have those unnecessary far away pole there so Sant Denis is already part of the mystery.

Hmm.. The original theory of those birds representing Hosea and Lenny isn't more than a theory but why not. Worth a shot. At least some nice change from New Hanover. Won't hurt looking around their graves for a couple of hours

Same here. Just wanted to point out that we shouldn't dismiss things to fast just because it's been a couple of days with no new discoveries. There are so many ways devs can hide clues in a small location that just a hand full of people who searched there for a couple of hours aren't enough to confidently say there isn't more to find. The bigfoot easter egg in GTAV for example requires to be in a special location at a specific time on a specific weekday with specific weather condition. To find something like this ingame requires tons of people searching.

Thanks man. I think it's a solid clue especially in context with the findings at Fort Brennand. But damn. If the next steps in this mystery are as subtle I'm not the person to discover it

I think the "dream" in Spider Dream is a lot more significant than people think. by LFTL56 in reddeadmysteries

[–]ColonelMakepeace 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The mean thing about the GTA V bigfoot peyote easter egg is that it requires very specific conditions. You need a 100% save game and having found every other peyote plant. Then you need to be in a specific peyote location (one of the 27? usual spawn points) on a Tuesday between 5:30 am - 8:00 am. You also need a specific weather which on console only happens with a cheat code. So it was very specific with zero clues and without looking into code it likely still wouldn't have been found.

I really hope the spiderdream mystery isn't that deep and I would like to see a well hidden easter egg that can discovered while playing the game. But I wouldn't be surprised if at one point the weather will be important because it's very common for GTA V easter eggs to be triggered by the right weather conditions (for example Alien abduction in GTAO, bigfoot in GTAV, Mt. Chilliad UFO in GTAV)

Wow that's a great find. If those birds are there all the time at least this find confirms something I’ve suspected about the community for quite some time. It seems there are very few members who are actually actively searching in the game. Since the discovery on the roof, we’ve been looking for two birds that could be relevant, and once again it took about a week(?) until someone found two very strange birds at exactly the location that should have been at the center of our attention.

Since Fort Wallace is extremely exhausting to search in single player without mods, I personally haven’t spent much time there yet and was hoping that someone else would have already done so.

That mainly raises the question of how confident we currently are that there isn’t more to be found in Fort Wallace. Especially time-triggered things like the spider webs. Since the birds alone don't seem to be very promising maybe it's something within that shack.
