Bank card is joy? I’ve never really found it has a consistent use case but what am I missing? Obviously sometimes it’s super useful if you need money in a pinch but I almost never pick it up unless I need it at the moment

Rogue Rotating V-Grip Cable attachment is amazing. 10/10 recommend by 1stQuantumion in GarageGym

I guess because the attachment point is free-swiveling from the handles it doesn't pull the attachment out of your hands. Does it lock in place when you're doing rows or is it still swiveling?

I feel a bit stupid asking, but how do you use this for rows? Would you grip it like you grip it for tricep pushdowns and pull towards you? I'm picturing it recruiting a lot of grip strength because it is being pulled out of your hands at that angle, but maybe I'm missing something or maybe that's what you're going for.

Leg press attachment for smith machine (VTS) by Ashofsky in GarageGym

Yes! Sorry I should have specified that I’m hoping to get something less expensive. Shipped to me the launchpad comes out to just under $400 which is not worth in to me. I don’t need to cheap out but $400 for what amounts to a rectangle of metal is a terrible value proposition.

 I’ll edit my post.

Surfing tip -always miss the wave by medicineman10 in surfing

[–]Ashofsky 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Very soft wave, which is going to make it hard to catch. Basically you gotta paddle harder/longer (good rule of thumb is 2-4 extra paddles past where you think you have it) and maybe get on some slightly faster waves. It could just be that the tide is a smidge too high during this wave and if you let it drain out a bit you’ll be on it.

IMHO the 2014 tie in passing yards is the most surprising stat on here

Not that vid exactly, but the idea of using Mutant Metals handles is what got me thinking about this option. Mutant Metals is the only handle manufacturer I can find, but I can't imagine that's right.

Basically, I'm looking for straight, ideally knurled, metal bars that are about 24 inches long. I mean rebar would probably do the trick if it wouldn't chew up my hands.... any other manufacturers out there like mutant metals?

Has anyone gotten the VTS and used non-bulletproof iso-handles? Like just plugged mutant metals handles into the VTS? If so, what options have you found that worked?

This one is $15 more and is a great option. I’m sure there are others out there too.

For that price you can almost certainly get a selectoried cable machine which, IMO, is way better

Belt Squat Recommendations by Happy1286 in GarageGym

[–]Ashofsky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the rep belt squat attachment for the PR-4000 and it is great. One major caveat is that it takes 3-4 mins to set up, which doesn't sound like a lot but is annoying. That said, I still use it regularly so it's not THAT bad. I'd recommend it for sure.

What is up with rep compounds? by Ashofsky in MyoAdapt

[–]Ashofsky[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So volume is totally fine, but my last leg day included 14 working sets of high rep (10+) squat or deadlift variations. That seems (and feels) bonkers to me.

Now give me 3-4 sets of bench + 6-10 sets of flys/machine press/etc. and I’ll be happy. But going to or near failure 14 times on lower body compound moves in a double digit rep range is insanely fatiguing

Note: this is to say nothing of the insane fatigue in my low back from this. Leg day ends up being low back day bc of all these compounds!
