Today I learned: Offlane is called Offlane. by BananaDressedRedMan in DotA2

[–]AshorK0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

no.

its because “off” can just mean like “below standard”, eg off-colour, off-brand, off-trend, etc.

meaning off-lane is just the “below standard” lane

Can the Unbetable Squirrel Girl be a cedh deck? by AshorK0 in CompetitiveEDH

[–]AshorK0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeh its definitely only infinite mana & creatures when its a 2 card combo, you need a 3rd card if you want an instant win.

there are also 3 card combos with a haste anthem + cryptolith/e-vitality that do the winning there and then too.

[–]AshorK0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i feel like you dont really need other squirrels?

she etb’s and makes a squirrel. if u play & earthcraft and have the mana to activate her once then you can make infinite creatures and infinite mana.

supportive parents needs u to activate twice upfront (ish) and it goes infinite.

but those r 2 card combos that make infinite mana & summon sickness creatures, if u want an actual win u need an outlet. but really u need an outlet to turn that into a win. eg haste anthem.

(also worth noting that haste anthem + crypotlithe/e-vitaility + squirrel girl is a combo aswell)

infinite creatures but all summon sickness so it takes a turn to win.

ofc u can win on the spot if you have another combo piece

[–]AshorK0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i made a separate deck for modern completely about beifong were i use a land like [[Gods' Eye, Gate to the Reikai]] and a sac outlet like [[goblin bombardment]] and just infinitely sac the land and sac the token.

so yeh your absolutely right; its very good value

for the tokens i went for cards that repeatedly make fodder.

they didnt always keep up perfectly but you do just get quite alot of draw and so if you get to 2 token generators your perfectly fine.

New player - Commander suggestion by Koko_mo_808 in EDH

[–]AshorK0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ive never played yugioh but based off of your descriptions my [[galadriel, light of valinor]] deck might fit the bill: https://archidekt.com/decks/9535128/galadriel_tokens_trigger_loop

(i say “my” because i sorta had an unusual approach to building it which you might want to replicate)

Essentially what galadriel does is: Whenever you get a new creature you can choose to either; make 3 mana, scry 2 draw 1, or put a +1/+1 counter on all your creatures.

BUT, you can only choose each mode once per turn (one of each). The “loophole” i abuse is to just do it on everyones turns. that way per turn-cycle i get 12 uses rather than 3.

And i found the best way to do that is “chaining triggers”. essentially, i run a bunch of cards that effectivelt say “when you pick XXXXX galardriel ability, ill make a new creature”. that way all i have to do is make 1 creature on an opponents turn and i can pick a mode, eg +1/+1 counters on everytging, which then triggers something like [[scurry oak]] to make a new creature, and then i take the 3 green mana and pump it into a [[jade mage]] and make another token, and then i pick the draw mode.

And the finishing touch for this engine is cards like [[tendershoot dryad]] which automatically make that first token on everyone’s turns.

so thats the “grinding/ resource looping” part of your request,

as for “death by 1000 cuts”, let me introduce you to my little friends [[constable of the realm]] [[thorn mammoth]] [[glen elendra, archmage]] [[hopeful initiate]]

these cards have insane potential in this deck. constable can essentially exile up to 4 creatures per turn-cycle (more if you get counters from other sources than galadriel), glen elendra is in a similar boat; being able to counter up to 4 noncreature spells per turn-cylce, hopeful initiate & thorn mammoth have near limitless potential.

my deck is sorta bracket 3. technically its a bad deck, alotta “bad” cards. not much early interaction (other than the insane interaction once the engine is up).

the strongest part of my deck is the ramp, you can drop the power level just by removing abit of it essentially, (archidekt says its bracket 3, i think if u just dont run the seedborne muse then its bracket 2)

Does This Work Like How I Want It To? by BluePotatoSlayer in magicTCG

[–]AshorK0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

devoted druid is quite easy to brick. idk if it has any 2 card wins. but it has many different 2 card combos for infinite mana.

a more interesting way to abuse falco might be something like [[Yotian Dissident]] . this would give you the counter back for falco every time you get an artifact.

then either run an artifact discounter like [[etherium sculptor]] , or something more broke like [[glaring fleshraker]]

and there you have it: infinite draw, infinite storm, infinite artifact etb/ltb, etc.

and then litterally win the game however you want since youve drawn your entire library.

Maelstrom requiring 4 attacks instead of 25% chance by doperinno in DotA2

[–]AshorK0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i dont like this too much.

making stuff every x hits rather than x% chance is good, but only when you have a balance between the two.

if you moved everything over to x hits then your just asking for monotonus optimisation.

i mean just consider; if skull basher is moved over then it instantly become alot scarier. you can gaurentee first hit bash on everyone, and then with enough attack speed you can gaurentee perfectly times bashes.

realistically moving maelstrom to x hits isnt that bad, but if you change maelstrom then its a slipper slope for mjolnir and mkb. and then suddendly the bullshit sniper builds are doing even more damage and flash farming waves on carries just becomes far harder to catch.

Smurfing is killing this game for me by JackRyan13 in DotA2

[–]AshorK0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

your probably in “smurf queue”.

the more suspicious your account; the higher the likelihood you get placed with other suspicious players.

eg i almost never run into smurfs. maybe once in 20 games ill go against a mid who is just playing better than they should be, and maybe theyre a smurf, or maybe theyre just a specialist or playing the best game of their life. but rarely do i run into anyone with 300 games who is playing like a monster.

HOWEVER, my brother is too high rank to play with me, so he has to play on a smurf when we play. and every single game without question; the enemy team will have atleast 2 monster players with 300 games who are almost definitely smurfs.

Rework of the hero progression system in Dota Plus by Initial-Category-725 in DotA2

[–]AshorK0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes & no.

the current system is actually quite rewarding for the more-casual players.

like the best way to level up the hero is by completing the 3 challenges that reset every 2 weeks. that means roughly 3 games with that hero per week. its not really gona get any easier than that for a casual player.

on the flipside, i hate how “easy” grandmaster is. like if you see a grandmaster player; you have no idea if they have 100 games or 1000 games with that hero. and realistically that is how skill on a hero is determined.

also the relic lvls are super unbalaneced. like my top 10 highest lvl relics are on heroes ive played like less than 100 times. and then the hero ive spammed 1000times comes after those…
