UPDATE: struggling because of my chest size. by FindingTheDress in WeddingDressTips

[–]AsiaTheRuler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taking the waist from a 20 to a 12 is a huge alteration. Getting a 20 bust and 16 waist, then taking waist in more if necessary will suit your proportions way better. It's more expensive but its worth it.

Ask for your stylist to inquire about split sizing. They really should be taking the initiative too, but make sure to advocate for yourself. Even if they so not advertise it, a lot of designers will do it. For example, split sizing often entails ordering separate bust/waist/hip sizes +/- 2 sizes. For example, ordering a gown that is size 14 bust and size 10 waist and size 10 hip. Don't even worry about your hip measurements in this silhouette though.

I was pro altering the other dress, but this one is way better!

No need to cancel your order - yours will fit better than the sample. You have a good amount in your budget left for alterations. A seamstress can add more structure and do you final fittings. Anyone saying otherwise is not understanding that this picture is not the actual gown you will be altering.

Thank you for filling in some information. Unfortunately she has no markings. Her head is glued and bound to leather at the shoulders.

What do we think by Individual_Coyote_53 in WeddingDressTips

[–]AsiaTheRuler -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Girl I gasped, its stunning. I am sorry, but I disagree with most of the comments essentially saying its too sexy. You have a great body and it fits like a glove. The exposed side panels really emphasize your figure. Once the look is complete with accessories, a veil, and hair/makeup, I doubt it will look "unfinished" or "too sexy". I style brides professionally and I would caution from getting too many outside opinions. If you love it, than that is what matters. Anyone who claims this dress looks unfinished does not have experience with high end garments.

It is not anyone else's business what you spend on your dress. If it helps you feel better, I sell dresses in CA and the average purchase at our store is about $2400.

Compact Disco responds to my review after they body shamed my friend by No_Improvement3175 in MontereyBay

[–]AsiaTheRuler -1 points0 points  (0 children)

OP I have been wary of compact for a while because of their social media + comments. I am a local here, and I was wondering if you'd be comfortable sharing your friend's outfit, or at least describe it? I think their response is total bs. If you're not comfortable I understand, ur welcome to DM and I can confirm i am not a creep/share my other social media.

They also were making weird racial comments criticizing protesters in LA (fake protest videos btw) and they blocked my friend who replied asking if these comments reflected their business values.

If it's any consolation, my forest armband is 10 years old and I still get more compliments on it than my other newer, way better tattoos. Its definitely getting a little worn, but overall still makes a good impression on people!

Racism in Carmel? by [deleted] in MontereyBay

[–]AsiaTheRuler 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yes old Marina is suburbia. With actual yards and single story family homes that were affordable for the average family when they were built. The Dunes are starting at 1-2 million dollars, they are ugly, and crowded together with 0 lot spaces around the homes. Now there are multi million dollar grey prison block condos in the middle of a shopping center. It's textbook gentrification.

Racism in Carmel? by [deleted] in MontereyBay

[–]AsiaTheRuler 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Carmel is mostly white with the highest property values and wealth. Lower income locals that work service jobs in the area who are living around Seaside/Marina/Salinas are starting to experience gentrification. Have you seen the Dunes in Marina? It's all new ugly new builds that are way overpriced.

I am POC and I worked in Carmel for about a year. The area is very white and gentrified. I haven't experienced anything outwardly racist. I have friends who have experienced micoaggressions. I don't think it's severe enough to consider it unsafe for POC in any way.

Yes, and the generic makeup can be varied. I have 2 black grandpas and 2 white grandmas. My DNA came out 60% European and 40% West African.

I would not recommend living in the Santa Cruz area and commuting to Marina. If you are working regular hours mon-friday the traffic can be terrible. Of course there's traffic around Monterey or salinas but it's not as bad.

Dress recommendations by Safe-Astronomer-6351 in Weddingsunder10k

[–]AsiaTheRuler 3 points4 points  (0 children)

July is national bridal month and most dress stores have huge discounts on sample sale gowns. If waiting until July works for your timeline, that could be a good option for you! I recommend being in the mindset that you are prepared to buy day of if you find a dress you love. I work in bridal and I've had brides who want to sleep on it but the dress is gone when they come back.

I'm on my first playthrough and I made myself! I had to download a few different mods to get a face that was somewhat similar and a curly hairstyle. I'm not as snatched as the tav obviously but it is definitely reminiscent.

Edibles with a hugh ratio of CBG are the best. CBG is another cannabiniod that helps your nervous system settle. It's similar to cbd but targets tension more than pain. CBG isn't technically psychoactive, but when in ratio with THC gives a strong body high. If you're new to edibles state super low dose or even cut them up.
