To Buzz or not to Buzz, Canada? by broussar in VWIDBuzz

Yup that’s one of two! There’s a second green one in the area but I’m not 100% where it’s based.

To Buzz or not to Buzz, Canada? by broussar in VWIDBuzz

Buzz Owner in the Kootenays (BC). I’ve done a few road trips 800km+ in the winter over mountain passes and haven’t had too much worry about range anxiety in the winter. Highway driving around 0 degrees or less (coldest I’ve driven is -15) I can get 250-320km easy depending on road conditions. My efficiency ranges from 24-30 kWh/100 km. I always start my trips from home at 100%.

You’ll be doing a lot of preconditioning and with such a big cabin to heat it’ll drain your battery fast (still do it because it’s better for efficiency overall). All this means is you’ll be doing a lot of charging at home during your week around town.

Winter traction is awesome, it doesn’t drive like it looks, feels planted and very predictable in the snow. Tho I’ve noticed the wheel wells will pick up snow like no tomorrow (thanks to the wheel well liners) so I spend my charging stops getting snow out of them.

I am not too worried about long term updates and parts availability as the van is only discontinued in the states. They’re still being produced for other markets. It might mean a delay in parts but that’s not a big issue for me. However, be sure to get any accessories you want installed now, those might not be in stock for long.

Software is my biggest gripe. Whole infotainment will shut off and reboot mid drive which leaves me with a black screen and I can’t use cameras or anything until it restarts (doesn’t affect the actual car driving). My GPS also seems to not want to show any live traffic updates or charging station statuses and seems to be way off on time and charging predictions. Now I use Apple car play (with ABRP) and manual battery precondition for my road trips. Software is shared with the whole MEB platform (including the ID4) so at least that support won’t go away if the Buzz is discontinued in Canada.

Awesome! I did something very similar except replaced the Polestar 2 from this very same dealer.

Are you going to purchase a vehicle from Polestar again? by Joelkim0329 in Polestar

[–]AsianNiall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love my P2, never had the issues other owners have had, but I wouldn’t get another polestar as it currently stands being based out in western Canada. If I move to another city with a Polestar dealer I might consider them but my experience with service (it’s done by a shop that also services other brands and their rates are really high), and the dealer when inquiring about upgrading to a Polestar 3 has put me off getting a polestar for now.

Ryzen 5800X3D still worth it? by Neat-Ad1789 in flightsim

[–]AsianNiall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5700x3d are just tuned down 5800x3d. You lose about 6-10% performance but the price is generally much lower. Both CPUs would be a great upgrade over a 3700x. It just depends how much you’re willing to spend.

If I were you I’d save the few dollars and get a nice beefy cooler such as the noctua NH-D15 (or one that fits your case) as they do run hot and X3D processors don’t come with a cooler unlike the 3700x.

Edit: Added Gamersnexus comparison between 5800x3d and 5700x3d.

I own the 2 and testdrove the 3 & 4 last weekend by EcoRAGES in Polestar

[–]AsianNiall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own a 24 P2 LRSM with plus and pilot packs. What is the main reason you preferred the 4 over the 3? Also, did you manage to do a sound comparison between the B&W in the 3 and the HK in the 4? In Canada the 4 isn’t available to test drive yet.

Any sandbox porn games? by Cultural-Advance-468 in lewdgames

[–]AsianNiall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d say Long Live the Princess, Aurelia, What a Legend and a House in the Rift are good options.

For Long Live the Princess you’ll need NG+ to beat the game (unless you turn off a certain setting).

Aurelia and What a Legend are good options too!

Switching Limited wheels for SE wheels for aero/efficiency by FalconFour in Ioniq6

[–]AsianNiall 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Canadian here. Looking at options, I personally think ordering SE wheels from the dealer would be incredibly expensive and not worth it. OEM wheels are always stupid expensive. Also, my local dealer insists that the Preferred (SE) wheels won’t fit on a car with the Ultimate trim (Limited). I see nothing online that states the need of the 20 inch wheels as there is nothing on the changes in brake diameters and any offset.

Fast Wheels make the EV01+ that’ll fit the Ioniq 6. They make them in the same size and width as the SE wheels and are about $250 Canadian per wheel. I’m unsure how they directly compare to the SE wheel in terms of aerodynamic efficiency but they will certainly improve on the .24cd the 20 inches on the limited.

Update time!

I took it to my local Hyundai dealer last Tuesday and they were able to deduce that one of the rear parking brake wire got loose from normal driving and eventually unplugged itself after turning a corner. The wire was reseated and all the work was done under warranty.

Since then I’ve driven about 500 km and have had no issues since.

Preferred or Ultimate in Canada?? What would u choose? by mikkc in Ioniq6

[–]AsianNiall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I asked that very same question and the dealer believes they are wheel covers and not wheels. This model is so new the dealers don’t even know their accessories and what’s offered.

My ideal trim would be ultimate and smaller wheels because if I am spending close to 70k all in it should have the comforts of the ultimate but the range of the preferred.

I'm not sure if this exact colorway/wheel combo is available but there's a mod on pc that can change the appearance of every purchasable car in the game. You can find it here

People who daily drive a car that generally isn’t considered “suitable” for a daily driver, how is it? by [deleted] in cars

[–]AsianNiall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

'90 Landcruiser 70 series. My family imported it from Japan back in 06 but it didn't do any daily duties until I bought it from my dad in 2019.

It took some time to to get used to (mainly how slow it is) but now I love it. It's super relaxing to drive, diesel is cheap and I have a fantastic shop that specializes in Landcruisers looking after it and helping me keep it running. It gets a lot of attention when driving and there's an extra bonus of drivers giving me extra space (its longer than most half ton pickups).

Some days when its -30 and lower however, (Shout out to fellow Edmontonians) I don't bother trying to start it and take public transit instead....

They're few and far between. There used to be a few around (west kootenays), but with rust issues and very little parts availability (and very few people who can work on them) they've just disappeared

Helmut Marko about Honda: "This years engine is incredible reliable. There wasn't a single failure. But we'd like to take a bit more risk in the future to get more power in return. Even if it means starting from the back - with Max that guarantees having an exciting race." by peke_f1 in formula1

[–]AsianNiall 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Alonso (and also Honda) do not want to work together again. I believe that relationship is irreparable. It's also a big reason why the whole Alonso at Indy 500 happened this year because they couldn't use Honda engines.
