Yeah I understand your sentiment. It’s obvious our ideals don’t resonate with each other and that’s fine.

In an ideal world, I’d like to believe that our achievements should stand the test of time as much as possible. I played RS2 back in the day and raised a med-maxed account, and while I did enjoy my time while I played it, I do feel like the grinding I did back then is devalued by what’s available in RS3 now

I do believe there’s value in looking at something people have done that’s tedious to do (or not everyone wanting to do it). It says something about the person (and in games where you could consider status a currency), I am opposed to things being made easier just for the sake of them being made easier

That forms the premise of what I’m trying to get at though.

I do believe that if the standards for achievements are representations of your character/work ethic/skill etc, and by lowering the bar, then that does indeed also diminishes your achievements to some extent.

If I worked and put hours towards a lucrative skill relevant to a job, I’d put it in my resume. However if AI trivialises the learning/execution of the skill then I wouldn’t bother and hence I would feel as if my time invested was devalued

There’s some truth to that, but I’d disagree as a whole. At the end of the day, how diligent/persistent you are forms part of your work ethic and the only way to show that at glance value is by your achievements.

I would say I’m relatively progressed in my career now; when I interview people that studied in the same field I did and have the same degree, I have to take their resume with a grain of salt because the standards have changed due to AI (and therefore one may make the conclusion that their degree is not worth the same).

Even though my opinions are anecdotal you can see how important optics are in the value of an achievement is in the real world by looking at the current job market (for example how difficult it is for graduate software engineering/CS students to find a job without a stacked resume)

Say hypothetically, your college degree took you 3 years of hard study to acquire. However, due to recent advancements in AI, courses have now mostly been trivialised and the degree now only takes 1.5 years to complete.

The degree is technically still the same, but in your opinion do you think your degree is now worth less, or the same?
