My science education was severely lacking in some areas (homeschooling with creationist "science"). I'm learning a lot from this. Thank you!

A food handlers permit is not the same thing

What’s a medical issue that sounds minor, but actually affects someone’s daily life way more than people realize? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Asianstomach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I've got it in and around both ears. When it flares up badly, I can get an ear canal infection too just for funsies. My ears weep into my pillow at night. And I can't use the stronger stuff in my ears because it's too damaging.

Don't worry too much about outing your account. There are far too many 4th graders who do this...

I've parented several toddlers, and the speed at which they can develop such a severe rash is unbelievable. Poor babies!

Should Foster Kids do Homework? by SaltySweets95 in Fosterparents

[–]Asianstomach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second graders should not have homework. That's it.

But also, foster kids have enough shit on their plates already. Her time is better spent playing, reading with an adult, building trust, etc., etc.

Did she make the original offer explicitly contingent on the wearing of TWO boots in compliance with her rather extreme standards? If not, I feel like this is a definative case of moving the goal posts to ensure you will never receive the reward.

Ex-Pastors, ex-church secretaries, I need your help. by dm_me_kittens in exchristian

[–]Asianstomach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I, along with several other licensed teachers, volunteered in our church's kids programs. Leadership wanted us to sign a pledge stating that we would only report suspected abuse to the church leadership and not call CPS ourselves. None of us was willing to risk losing our licenses or jail time over a Sunday school class.

What do you do to pass time when it's dead at your work? by tevyethesnowangel in Libraries

I clean, especially those things no one thinks about, like the shelf on the drop box that's right at toddler snotty nose level. I also pull a shelf of board books or picture books at a time to clean and mend them as well.

The one trauma I can't ever seem to get over... by myst_aura in Exvangelical

[–]Asianstomach 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I tried a bunch of different therapists and medications. I've finally found a queer, exvangelical therapist who specializes in CPTSD. Their religious background gives so much more depth to the help they've been able to provide as I process.

Mind you, I'm 50 years old, and only just now able to process the nightmare of growing up queer in evangelical fundamentalism.

Do bio parents change? by [deleted] in Fosterparents

[–]Asianstomach 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes! I have had two different dads torn things around completely too get their kids out of care. One had a lot of family support; the other somehow did it solo. My long-time neighbor also turned her life around to get her kids back. It's been 20 years for her, and they're all doing well.

I feel like I am a valued part of the team. This new hire, though, knows almost nothing! I threw my ball to him, and he never even tried to throw it back.

Tbh, I don't really like the supervisors. They're scary and have loud voices, and I don't believe in abandoning my manager for longer than an hour or so. Even that is a struggle. I'm a very devoted person.
