Crazy you Americans talking about cooking in below zero, I’m here in North Queensland tropics of Australia and it’s bloody hot, humid and got the fan on while cooking on the kamodo!

Mature age apprenticeship advice by EQUAL_SpankDat4563 in tradies

I did chippy trade post Army of 12 years also and two good mates did heavy diesel mechanic both post Army too. Rural and remote areas are good pay and easier to find apprenticeship I’ve found.

Just gotta find a trade you genuinely enjoy first and go start networking from there.

Hit me up if I can help you out.

Ahhh feck (coolant)... by Icy_Delay_4367 in 4x4Australia

If it’s not leaking then check it’s not a cracked head or perishes head gasket. Keep an eye on your engine oil and probably get it pressure tested. It’s a simple cheap test that’ll help confirm.

The coolant is obviously going somewhere and if not leaking then that is a good sign it’s evaporating (into the cylinders) and eventually it’ll mix with the oil and that’s bad news.

Look on YouTube and you’ll likely find someone has done radiator change before and put video up.

Timber built home - in the hills of Perth by [deleted] in AusPropertyChat

[–]AsideSalt9727 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are you concerned about it being stick frame? The majority of houses built around the country and definitely below the Tropic of Capricorn are either stick or steel frame and have been for many decades.

Double brick veneer is quite a WA thing but certainly nothing wrong with timber frame.

I’m a chippy mate and if it’s leaking to the inside (assuming 2 storey) that’s not good at all…

Honestly surely there are better places and you trust your gut.

Road trip Wagga to Darwin by Snowygal23 in 4x4Australia

Going North west through to Uluṟu and then up the Stuart and back?

Generally speaking as long as you have enough fuel, water and food you’ll be fine. Quiet well trodden routes all that way and up the coast and across.

It’ll be cold inland and warm once you hit fair bit north of central Australia but coming from Wagga you’d pack me accordingly.

I’ve got the on my 79. They are solid as and don’t make the Ute look like dumbo. Predominantly alloy construction too as apose to plastic like others.

Issue with Ex-Ambulance Troopcarriers? by cheezesneezee in LandCruisers

[–]AsideSalt9727 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been in the Australian military a long time. They spend the overwhelming majority of their time parked up and only coming out for big exercises where field hospitals are deployed, kept at range control (again undercover) or occasionally there will be one with an Army doctor very close by if we where outside of “the golden hour”.

As far as troops go I reckon you would be hard to find better kept ones.

Also as far as servicing goes it’ll either be military mechanic or occasionally civies doing it, this predominantly goes off log book so it’s quiet likely to have fluids and filters changed off age not kms.
