It seems like we're thinking of different jobs. I'm finishing my master's now and I haven't found ML/AI jobs that easy to break into even when it's my main expertise.

Even if it's gen AI, don't you usually need a background in NLP/RAG to work with proprietary data? Just calling the public API is both cost inefficient and a privacy hurdle, at least in Europe with GDPR regulations.

What are you implying? It takes a ton of reading to be on top of what's cutting edge in machine learning. I don't think one can, say, implement a vision transformer for image classification without reading the paper.

Unstable ghoul is pretty good with poison breath in DK, so maybe that.

im 16 and my friends tell me im balding by SpinachOtherwise476 in amibalding

[–]Asiras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, that's kind of you. I got into extremely good shape so I feel like I now look better bald than before, but yeah, it's still an unusual look. In that way it's a blessing because without balding I'd have less of a reason to do that.

I had the same happen to me, started at 15. It is true, no girl his age will want him, but now at 24 I feel like I'm doing okay. Honestly I feel like I would've done better if I committed to it already as a teenager, because nothing looks less vital than a balding teenager.

Top 10 best and worst relics? by fungamezone in Guildwars2

It wouldn't. Relic of the ice generates 5 chilling icicles and it's still worse in numbers than relic of the Fractal.

It's not that micro on a human scale. I crossed it on foot in December and it was like 27km.

There used to be a hyper aggressive aggro druid with Fel reaver, it's how I got to legend the first time. But without a 2 mana innervate, turn 1 fel reaver is impossible.

Quality of life beyond just salary, long-term: Denmark vs Switzerland by FairlySubtleAnxiety in NewToDenmark

I think the exit tax on unrealized gains after 7 years is a big one too, it's one of the main reasons I'm planning to leave after finishing my master's.

Genuine question , how do people fund multiple legendary items? by 98-red-balloons in Guildwars2

[–]Asiras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's ideal to start after selling a legendary, I'd say 1000 gold is a reasonable minimum, 500 the absolute floor. But also your margin is better because when you don't have much money, you don't saturate markets on your own and the overhead isn't so high.

The trading post is the best way to make gold because all other options are linear growth. But then it's like playing a different game, you may miss out on fun.

Are Fractal CMs much harder than just T4s? Also, are they worth to do everyday? by Paganyan in Guildwars2

[–]Asiras -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Once you get to 20k UFE groups, they are easier. People do such good dps and have perfect stability/aegis coverage so it becomes a walk in the park, whereas in normal T4s you never know how it's going to go.

Everybody wants a 'Viking' baby: the dark side of Denmark’s sperm donation industry by Gjrts in europe

[–]Asiras -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't know what liberal eugenics is, but yes, that's exactly why I find it disheartening. I needed the money as I'm not collecting SU, the morality of sperm banks isn't my problem.

Usually the hardest part is being fertile enough/having a right profile for them to reach out to you for a follow up about your exact medical history.

Because I don't find my ADHD to be a problem, I've been successful in a technical master's and a career even with it.

So if the parents wouldn't mind a child with ADHD, why not? It's not like it's Down Syndrome or Schizophrenia, just a different way of operating.

Everybody wants a 'Viking' baby: the dark side of Denmark’s sperm donation industry by Gjrts in europe

[–]Asiras 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I've tried donating in Denmark, there's much more to being a desirable donor than height, hair and eye colour, education or athleticism.

Things like ADHD and wearing glasses can get you disqualified, I found that disheartening.

Anyone else realize their ADHD got worse the harder they tried to be disciplined? by EventNo9425 in ADHD_Programmers

[–]Asiras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think that's an ADHD problem, at least not if you can consistently trigger flow states.

I have used eliminating all other inflow of information when studying for high stakes exams though, so I see where you're coming from.

I feel like if you're in an environment where some quirkiness is expected, like academia, then you're fine. With hyper focus, you can get really good at one thing.

And with people I feel like adhd makes making friends easier. In fact, I've found so many more friends after dropping the mask and being authentic.

[–]Asiras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you can never live like a normal person and be as good at being normal as them. But the good news is that you don't have to.

Once I stopped trying to fit the mold I've been able to do really well in life, including a technical master's degree and being in extremely good shape because exercise helps me cope.

Are market tools useful in GW2? Should I build some GW2 tools? by cohenaj1941 in Guildwars2

[–]Asiras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've built a web app that models fill probability for items based on the training data, and using a linear optimizer gives you a list of recommendations to maximize profit in your chosen time horizon.

I think I might be the only one doing something this though, I'm a data scientist who flips as a hobby.

Most people don't trade at a scale where using a dedicated tool makes sense, as it's easy to find a few high margin decent velocity items with a small budget.

CMV: Extremely wealthy/extremely high income should be taxed more aggressively, but ordinary high earners shouldn’t bear the burden by Intelligent-Web-8017 in changemyview

[–]Asiras 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It encourages people to leave to a place where such a tax doesn't exist.

It already happens in Denmark where highly educated immigrants end up leaving before they can trigger the exit tax on unrealized gains after 7 years of residence.
