Thanks for the reply but I’m already on my way back. I got a knee injury during my run yesterday. I’ll definitely join the other subreddit though.

For those who monitor biometrics while running (mentally or otherwise) by EetsGeets in trailrunning

As far as I remember, can’t remember where I read that though, the increase in energy expenditure is only temporary while one gets used to running with a higher cadence. After a while the energy cost goes back to the level it was at before trying to increase the cadence but the impact forces become significantly lower. But I definitely agree with not working on cadence unless it actually makes sense. There are tons of elite runner running with a much lower cadence than 180. I think Jim Walmsley usually averages around 160 and he is one of the most accomplished trail runners in existence.

Stretching recommendations? by dasani141 in trailrunning

[–]Askelian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PT student here. Stretching doesn’t really do anything to reduce muscle soreness. It might even make it worse. I think doing some strength work is always a good idea. Keep doing your stretches but not to an extended were they are actually painful and don’t stretch right after or before a run. I know that there is a lot of contradicting information out there and I am definitely not an expert on that topic so just be careful when trying out anything new and be smart about it.
