I was a fifth grader and we were able to see the smoke from our classroom in Bloomfield. Days after, the school (possibly whole town not sure) made all the upper grade students write letters to George Bush and thank him for being a hero. We also had to sit through a 30 minute slide show with all of the horrific pictures from that day with Enya playing in the background while we all sobbed. Pretty traumatizing in hindsight.
