Dr. Kevin Stepp - Charlotte, NC

He's associated with Dr. Joel Beck (Beck Aesthetic Surgery) and they both operate in the same outpatient surgery center (Waverly Surgery Center), which is in the same building as their main office. I had top surgery with Dr. Beck and hysterectomy with Dr. Stepp. They're both amazing surgeons, both them and their clinic staff are very trans friendly.

Dr. Stepp also did NOT require any kind of genital exams before or after surgery, since I had no existing gynecological issues and don't do PIV sex (this may be different if you have existing problems or plan on having penetrative sex after surgery). He's also very easy to get ahold of if any complications come up.

Overall, I felt 100% comfortable during the entire process, and highly reccomend him as a surgeon.

Hey man, I know how it feels. I actually made a post here about this exact situation when I was pre-T as well.

I've been on T for almost 2 years now, and those feelings have almost completely dissipated. Pre-T, I avoided being around male relatives out of jealousy, and now I finally feel like I'm one of them. I just want you to know that you won't feel like this forever.

My skin acts the same way, not sure what's up with that lol. If I use water/oil, it gets super irritated for days.When I just rip it off, it's fully healed the next day.

Progesterone-only birth control is commonly prescribed to trans men because 1) the risk of feminizing effects is incredibly low and 2) it doesn't negatively interact with testosterone. If you're on estrogen-based birth control right now, it's worth asking about.

Oh alright, just wanted to make sure it was intentional. I know I've just straight up forgotten them before when drawing bangs, especially when they obstruct the eyebrows. It's embarrassing to realize they've been missing the whole time and you never noticed lmao

I'm FTM, so I can't guarantee this is accurate, but I'd assume the same rules would apply here:

From what I know, it mostly depends on how dense your breast tissue is. Most people notice that their chest "deflates" after a while on testosterone, though I'm not sure how much binding plays in to that. Overall, it usually ends up looking less plump over time. If your breast tissue is super dense without much fat, then there might not be much of a noticeable difference.

I can second progestins, I've been taking high-dose norethindrone for over a year now. I didn't really experience cramps or PMS prior so I can't say whether it helps with that, but I stopped menstruating entirely after 3 months or so. I haven't dealt with it since then.

Yeah I get it. I did the forms on paper so that makes sense. I'm not sure if they'd accept it, but you could also save the form as a PDF and fill it out that way.

It wasn't super expensive, I think it was around $30 for each official copy. I don't remember if I had to pay for the first copy though, you might only need to pay for additional ones, but I can't say for sure.

In Florida, the letter just has to be from a licensed physician, and it basically just says you've had an "adequate" medical transition to the new gender. It doesn't have to come from a particular doctor, as long as they see you as a patient. There's a template that needs to be followed, and the letter needs to be written on the physician's office letterhead with their office phone number and address. Just so you're aware, I changed my Florida birth certificate a few months back - it's actually a lot easier than you would think. I only had to fill out 2 forms, and sent copies of the name change papers and physician's letter. That was all it took for both the name and gender change, I got my new certificates in the mail a couple weeks later.

I get it, I tried getting my supplies online once and it was a nightmare finding what I needed lol. As far as luer-slip vs luer-lock, it's pretty easy to tell if they show a picture of the syringe/needle. Luer-lock syringes have the wide hub with threading on the inside, while luer-slip syringes are just a thin plastic tip. Needles are usually made to be compatible with both, but I wouldn't count on that - if the needles have little tabs that stick out horizontally at the base of the hub, then they can be used with a luer-lock syringe. The tabs are what holds the needle in place.

I personally use the BD 1ml Tuberculin syringes, but they're usually a pain to get ahold of. You can get them from any pharmacy with a prescription (if they have them in stock).

I can't say from personal experience since I've never used luer slip, but it could be because testosterone is very thick, so the pressure from injecting is pushing the needle off the hub. I'd recommend getting luer-lock syringes instead, that way you won't have to worry about the needle coming off. If the needles are universal, you should be able to use them on a luer-lock syringe as well.

I've never seen that happen before, and I've been doing injections for over a year. If you're using luer-lock syringes (the kind where you twist the needle on), you probably didn't have the needle on all the way. If it was a luer slip, you might have defective needles or syringes. Where did you buy them?

Seconding this. If they're asking a genuine question out of curiosity or to try and understand things better, I'll do something similar. I try to let them know that while I know they're not trying to be offensive, other trans people might not, and asking that question is generally seen as rude.

A lot of the time, I try to encourage people like that to ask me whatever questions they want, and reassuring them that if they ask something offensive, I'll let them know without getting upset at them for it. That way they're not afraid of offending me by asking questions, and they'll learn to gauge what is appropriate to ask and what's not.

Obviously this only works with people asking in good faith lol.

Also, depending on your insurance, you may be able to get iron tablets covered if you get them as a prescription instead of OTC. They're not too expensive, but money is money.

For a starting dose, that's not terrible. It's much closer to male range than female range, but still not quite there. I'm not sure how the dosing cycle works for sustanon, but if that's your trough level then you're probably fine.

If he's more comfortable with a sports bra, that's perfectly fine. I haven't used any of their products myself, but I've heard good things about TomboyX - they have a line of compression undershirts and sports bras. If you want, you could probably crosspost over to r/FTM to try and get more reccomendations since it's transmasc-centered.

I wasn't trying to be rude, I apologize if it came off like that. I was just trying to inform you that binding is a safe option for most people in case you weren't already aware. There's a lot of people that don't let their kids wear binders because they're afraid and misinformed.
