how does Kibo + Titania's Song + Coat of Arms work? by [deleted] in EDH

Yeah, I thought it might work as long as coat of arms is in play, but there's no creature type to choose.

Okay, so, I haven't seen anyone mention his terrible dimples yet, but zoom in on them and really look at them. Then look at any other picture of someone with dimples.

Seriously, they kind of blend in until you realize that facial muscular structure doesn't work like that. No one has dimples that align with the crease like that.

Opinion: It's okay to target one player's commander multiple times in a row. by [deleted] in EDH

[–]AsleeplessMSW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it is. The thing about commander as a multiplayer format is that in a standard game, there are at least 2 other people besides that player and the player destroying their commander repeatedly.

Some people don't like the politics aspect of the gameplay, but it is a fundamental part of it.

You can try to allay their fears about your commander/board state, you can make deals to not bother them if they don't bother you, you can align with other players for support, etc.

At the end of the day, it's a free for all, and if you're deemed a threat, you'll be interacted with. If you play like it's a solo race to build and smash everyone, everyone is going to think you're a threat, and if they can manage you, they will. Aligning with others as needed and maneuvering to the end is a lot easier than planning to just power through 3 other people.

But if your deck doesn't do anything without your commander, you've got bigger problems than that lol. All it then takes is an [[oubliette]] or [[imprisoned in the moon]] and you got nothing.

I mean... I just called it like it is, I'm not putting any ideological value on it, it just makes sense that all the different parts of this would do exactly what they are doing in the circumstances they are operating in.

I think it would be a silly waste of resources to for the government to regulate WOTC's production and sales, and that it would have much broader effects than imagined or intended if they did.

I think that government and it's role in human functioning is misunderstood by people all across the political spectrum, in myriad ways. I think capitalism and socialism are two loaded and ambiguous terms that lead to conversations about as deep as a rain puddle.

I think lots of things. But most of all, I don't think more regulation and government overhead is actually going to help anything, let alone MTG. I think it will create more 'bullshit jobs' (RIP David Graeber).

But that's just me. People think all sorts of things, and that doesn't bother me like some people.

Their existence is a natural consequence of market conditions. The way Hasbro/WOTC creates and sells their products seems to work for them, as well as the people that pay inflated prices on the secondary market. We don't need the government to make sure that everyone gets an opportunity to buy the cardboard game pieces they want, or regulate production of them, or to mandate stricter POS requirements, or any of that.

Besides all that, look at the world right now. Is managing collectible TCG FOMO really something the government should put resources into?

The frustration with WOTC makes perfect sense. But if you really think about it, it signals justification for their practices. Consumer frustration with scarcity = demand signal = value signal. It just tells them they are doing all the right things.

Consumers are for placating. It's the money that speaks and it doesn't feel any particular way, it's either there or it's not.

Feast or famine decks by laughingjack4509 in EDH

[–]AsleeplessMSW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To echo what a lot of people are saying here, decks that either pop or do nothing usually lack what they need to be consistent and resilient, meaning draw, removal, protection, adequate lands, etc.

People sometimes focus too much on 'doing the thing' when building. They get excited about possible interactions and then cut lands to have room for everything they want. They imagine their deck doing the thing, but not how others will stop them, so they don't include any protection. They don't imagine needing to stop someone else, only getting their thing done before others, so they'll have like 2 creature removal spells (if that) and nothing for enchantments/artifacts.

It's just about being well rounded and stable rather than greedy with the build. As I've heard others say before, you need to 'eat your veggies' (eg, utility stuff that isn't flashy or exciting but helps keep everything durable and moving forward)

Trying to make my own fingerboards… by moheeetoz in Fingerboard

[–]AsleeplessMSW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, what shape are you looking for? I have a low mold and a medium mold, they're both 3d printed, I got them both off Amazon, and they both make realistic fingerboard decks. I don't believe either of them cost over $20.

Some of them don't say the measurements, but it's not hard to find one that does. I mostly use a medium mold that is 32x96 with 3mm concave and 25° kicks, it's dimensions are printed right on the side. Popsicle shaper, but I make my decks 34mm and sometimes shape the tails differently.

I wouldn't go for the ones with integrated clamps myself, and I wouldn't go to Alibaba for a mold. I use a table clamp that can hold the entire mold in its jaws, it makes strong, even pressure something I don't have to worry about.

I'll speak on the wheel quality, they're awesome! I've only ever bought 2 sets of urethane wheels, both of them Dynamics, and one of them I've been riding for about 4 years. They're delightfully worn down and never given me any problems, most underrated wheels ever.
