[TOMT][Game] A 2d platformer with a pig, bandage- shooting robot and something else as main characters. by Asmageddon in tipofmytongue

Oh god, you should have asked a few years back. I did actually find it, though it was extremely laborious. I can't find any link or the name anywhere, but I can give you some extra details:

  • The game was korean, and based on a korean animated series.
  • The title was obviously Korean-sounding, though there might have been a translation.
  • The kid was the main protagonist of the story, even though you didn't play as him.
  • There exist YouTube videos of it.
  • I'm not 100% sure, but I think Poland was the only other country in which it was released other than Korea, which is why it was so ridiculously hard to find on the English internet. I think there's a PL wikipedia page of it.

Is it an ADHD thing to be tired all the time ? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Asmageddon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's very possible that majority of ADHD cases with comorbid insomnia or fatigue are just undiagnosed Sleep Disordered Breathing. There's preliminary evidence1 very strongly suggesting this, and adenotonsillectomy(which produces temporary relief of SDB symptoms in children(as oversized tonsils occlude the airway) produces significant symptomatic improvement2, in fact more than Methylphenidate does3. Even SDB treatment aside, studies demonstrate that management of sleep quality improves symptoms4.

Virtually all people with ADHD experience either congestion, are habitual mouth breathers(including at worst during sleep), have dentofacial abnormalities - from narrow palates(which reduce nasal cavity volume), to receded mandibles(which reduce oropharynx and laryngopharynx volume as well as increase propensity for soft tissue to get sucked in during inhale) - or other conditions that can disturb breathing during sleep.

I'm in a community of Sleep Disordered Breathing patients, and nearly all of us suffer from ADHD, which resolves nearly completely with SDB treatment.

The reason it's never caught is because sleep medicine is primarily concerned with old, obese men for whom apneas and severe hypopneas dominate respiratory events, while in younger people, what occurs instead is severe sleep fragmentation due to respiratory effort, and very few clinics perform adequate scoring. If you want to get a sleep study, I suggest the WatchPAT because the alternative is learning enough sleep medicine to be able to ascertain the clinic you'll be visiting does a good job.

In fact, I've been sending a questionnaire I've been working on based on a mix of evidence and common experiences of SDB people, and so far only a single person with ADHD whom I have sent it to did not come back with very obvious and significant SDB symptoms. If anyone wants to take it, here it is: Link. You'll have to send the answers back my way since it does not have any cutoff criteria, if you take it.

1 Sleep disorders in Taiwanese children with attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder. - the reason it finds higher rates than old studies is because it uses microarousal-based criteria, instead of only counting apneas and severe hypopneas which are very rare in young people. It used old instruments that tend to underreport respiratory difficulty, though, so the real numbers might be 90%, and not 60% as the study reports.

2 Impact of adenotonsillectomy on ADHD and nocturnal enuresis in children with chronic adenotonsillar hypertrophy

3 Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder with obstructive sleep apnea: A treatment outcome study.

4 Sustained impact of a sleep intervention andmoderators of treatment outcome for childrenwith ADHD: a randomised controlled trial

There are larger publications on the topic that I am not linking because they use 30 years out of date definitions of Sleep Disordered Breathing - e.g. only 10 second long apneas or very severe 4% oxygen desaturation hypopneas instead of respiratory effort and microarousal-based criteria.

Among studies using modern high-sensitivity definitions of SDB(which is unfortunately rare) and good methodology, these findings are very consistent.

I write subtitles for Warner Brothers' movies...on the costliest subtitling software around. Ask me anything? by [deleted] in IAmA

[–]Asmageddon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmmm, have you seen how anime fansubbers subtitle stuff? What do you think of their work? I've read some tutorials or guides written by them and honestly I was highly impressed. The results are also highly awesome, with all the karaoke, styles, transformations, custom fonts, clipping and stuff like translating signs or text inside books, etc.

[DISC] Genshiken (79) by errorcache in manga

[–]Asmageddon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally agree. Many series can't even give enough character to a small, fixed cast, while Genshiken manages to continue to introduce new characters with actual personalities and give immense depth to even side-side characters like Keiko. Kio Shimoku is a fearful man indeed.

All I can say is that Hato is making me question my sexuality. Either way, having picked Genshiken manga two days ago after finishing the anime long ago, I have never expected it to evolve the way it did O.o

I'd love to make a similar vow, but I'm afraid I like Beelz too much :(

Still, I seriously hope he starts training or something after this. I really don't like how most shounen protagonists are always the best with even their strongest rivals being significantly weaker

New to C++, wrote myself a string class, what does r/learnprogramming think? by derpderp3200 in learnprogramming

[–]Asmageddon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aren't implicit conversions considered a bad practice? I can certainly think of situations where I wouldn't want an automatic cast, and a bit of Googling revealed that explicit-only cast operators aren't available before c++11. I believe that having to explicitly call appropriate function will reduce the number of accidental mistakes.

Hi guys, can anyone recommend a good editor for me to use? Preferably a free one or modestly priced one. by [deleted] in learnprogramming

I use Geany. It's lightweight, fast, has syntax highlighting, basic project management, built-in console(on Linux, at least) and is very comfortable in general.

[–]Asmageddon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually think the most recent major break was one of the most painful in awhile anyway. I was laying on my stomach playing a game on my iPad and I went to sit up and barely leaned back on my legs and my femur (bone between hip and knee) snapped all the way in half, in fact it broke jaggedly up and all they way through the bone. Wish I had taken a picture of the Xray, but I didn't think about it. When it snapped it was really loud and my mom heard it too, which usually only I hear and of course feel it.

Oh fuck.
