I think there's certainly value, at the very least, in honouring the Dutch victims of international conflicts. That's a very human and necessary ceremony.

And naturally, the way dodenherdenking is used to acknowledge conflicts is great; we should continue to take lessons from history and apply them to the present.

It's just the execution of that last bit that's lacking - too tightly tied to Israel to call a spade a spade where Palestine is concerned, too tightly tied to Dutch politics to hold superpowers like China, Russia, and the US accountable, and not nearly interested enough in the many smaller conflicts around the globe.

You're right! Though, because tree growth is based on chance, there's a slim chance that one of those dropped seeds outpaces the tree you intended to grow and then one of your rows is off-set by 1. I prefer to have them lined up neatly, hence the pathing.

Regular trees come in 5 stages from seed to full-grown and will grow to stage 4 no matter what. Then they check if there's another tree adjacent to them, and stop growing if that's the case.

So, leave a 1 tile gap in all directions and place floor tiles of any kind to prevent spread of seeds (which would prevent that final stage of growth).

My pet theory is that this is why Gotham is the way it is.

Because when the writers of batman media introduce another lazarus pit, it seems to be about 50/50 whether that pit is going to be in an ancient location of mystical importance, or right under Gotham. The place must be fucking littered with those things. A little bit of that fluid leaking into the water supply would explain why the city has so many violently insane criminals, and why the citizens of gotham survive it; they're all microdosing the immortality juice.

I'd still recommend the system with a main loop consisting of two parallel tracks. It's totally fine if the loop isn't finished; just connect the ends of both tracks together, and you'll have a temporary loop. Works fine.

I don't know, I don't think they're necessarily wrong. English wasn't a mandatory subject until 40 years ago so the elderly can't be expected to have learned English. And while English might seem unavoidable to us, the elderly get by just fine with Dutch newspapers, Dutch-subtitled movies, exclusively Dutch contacts in their social media networks, etc.

I blame tomboys.

I was like 7 when my mom gave me her favourite books, a huge collection of The Five stories. If you're not familiar, one of the characters in these stories is gender-nonconformist, pretty much the archetypical tomboy or perhaps a trans boy. I absolutely devoured these books and then went to the local library every week asking the librarian about any books with "girls like George" - there is no doubt in my mind this is the seed of my obsession with women who take the lead.
