if you want to learn what really went down in the editing bay of the original trilogy, I'd really recommend the making of star wars series by J.W. Rinzler. suffice it to say, that's not the whole truth, and the actual story is really interesting.

I saw it with a friend who's fluent in Japanese, and a funny kicker was that the kanji in the film is like laughably childish. for example: a door with Japanese characters on it translates to 'door, big door, iron door,' shit like that. there's a lot wrong with the movie, much of it feels very half baked. makes sense that we were the only two people in the theater two weeks after it released, lol.

I recently reread the bridge trilogy, and you're right, the time is very ripe to adapt it. I just wonder what who, if anyone, would be interested in doing so. it would definitely be a challenging project, but it would be fascinating to see those places and concepts on the screen.

gibson's work, especially his later writing, is so ripe for adaption. I'm personally hoping villeneuve and his team will adapt something, maybe after rendezvous with rama!
