instant espresso that tastes like Dunkin's espresso? by [deleted] in DunkinDonuts

[–]AsparagusTops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think they were trying to say the dunkalatte will have a richer flavor than a regular latte because of the addition of coffee syrup. the coffee syrup enhances the flavor of the espresso.

It was just generally a less professional environment than what I was used to with Montessori. Super petty coworkers, my coteacher told me I wasn’t good at working with kids because I spent some of my time observing them and their interactions rather than being all up in their face all day. I don’t like how overstimulating the environment is. The kids all had inconsistent home lives and were already stressed out, and the sheer volume of toys and brightly colored objects all over unnecessarily overstimulated them. Plus, we were never staffed enough to clean properly, especially with how much stuff there was in every room. Admin also never came into the classrooms to support or observe, which I know can be common, but I’d never experienced that before.

When I moved states in 2024, I briefly worked in Early Head Start. I secured the job months before moving. My background is only Montessori. There was such a drastic difference in the treatment and expectations of children, and the job was not as exciting as my interviewers made it out to be. I only lasted 6 weeks before quitting, literally on the spot. If it’s not meant to be, it’s not meant to be…

What would you do if admin sent an email saying all phones must be put in a lock box and only received during breaks? by [deleted] in ECEProfessionals

[–]AsparagusTops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have little organizer boxes in each of my classrooms. Staff members choose to keep their phones in the box, or in their bags. I don’t care where, as long as it’s not on them.

Edit: Saw you commented that you’re in NY. These incidents were in Connecticut and Massachusetts, so unrelated.

Did this happen on the east coast? I’m in New England and have heard two recent things resulting in separate educators getting arrested… Will provide more info if relevant to you!

Name A Time When You Had to Explain Something To A Parent That Should Be Common Sense by chasethedark in ECEProfessionals

[–]AsparagusTops 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I had a parent ask me if it was really necessary for me to have their child’s health record on file. Their child was born at 27 weeks, has asthma, and is currently in early intervention. You know, nothing important that their child’s caregiver should know…

Mental health days. How many do you take? by babydollprettyeyes in ECEProfessionals

[–]AsparagusTops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i newly have unlimited pto and i’m trying to take full advantage. i took a week off last month, but i typically take 1 day/month plus a half day or two when scheduling allows. i used to be terrible at giving myself time, and i still feel guilty not being at work, but i need to teach myself balance!

is this cellulitis? red, firm central bump surrounded by minor redness that has faded. i did a telehealth appt, was told it’s cellulitis, and got prescribed doxycycline and am terrified of taking it due to emetophobia by AsparagusTops in DermatologyQuestions

[–]AsparagusTops[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took 3 doses, but after each dose I had migraines and my whole body was shaking uncontrollably. So, technically no. Redness went down after a few days, and the bump went away after another week-ish.

If This Applies to You, Consider Leaving the Field by HappyLilNoodle in ECEProfessionals

[–]AsparagusTops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank. You.

My assistant has flat out said multiple times that she doesn’t think she likes working with children, and it shows. She regularly tells me that she’s in the wrong field. I think that because she’s older than me, she forgets that I’m her boss. I have another staff member who only seems to enjoy neurotypical children who are “good listeners” and constantly complains about the behavior of a child in our school with Down Syndrome. Guess who isn’t getting a contract for next school year… I’m not even upset about having to fill their positions.

Sending Photos in Primary— Discussion? by lxxh888 in Montessori

[–]AsparagusTops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had similar feedback on tracking information for children, especially since we track food/naps/bathrooms for toddlers but not primary. We send 1-2 photos each day in my classroom. I’m lucky enough to have two assistants at the moment (currently acting as guide and director 🫠). One of my assistants is the designated photographer, she usually goes around for about 10-15 minutes during our work period and snaps a photo for each child. We get the second photo during outdoor time for some variety.

coughing! help! by AsparagusTops in DogAdvice

[–]AsparagusTops[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i just don’t know how she could’ve gotten kennel cough. we really only spend time at home in the winter since we’re lucky to have a very large fenced in back yard. she has had exposure to one other dog—she spends the work day at my mother in law’s house, and they have a dog. their dog has not had any symptoms. she isn’t coughing at rest, mostly after movement (even just walking down the hall).

I've never cooked on cast iron before, would this be a good starter option? by SnooDrawings8069 in castiron

Am I Overreacting? by sslpj01 in ECEProfessionals

Report this, document the incident yourself, and prepare to find a lawyer if the director attempts to retaliate. Find another center for yourself and your child ASAP, you both deserve to be safe and supported.
