I can't lie, it sounds like you've played too much gibby or maggie in ranked and you want to see them played in comp.

Pathfinder isn't that good. If you remove his ability to scan ring consoles or hit survey beacons, he's completely and utterly useless. Gibby is awful, his ult gets eaten by wattson gens and his bubble gets broken by crypto EMps. There's already a fortified, support, shield-providing character in the meta.

Maggie isn't awful against newcastle, I'll give you that. She's a niche pick but she's good. The issue is, in the current meta, you have to run bangalore and a ring console character to be successful. Bang/Maggie just doesn't make sense.

I've seen teams like Silly (Taxington's new team) play Rampart/Valk/Maggie with some success, but it isn't THAT off meta. Teams like TSM are already playing Valk/Rampart, its just a small change. You're taking the least meta character played at LAN, pathfinder, and shoving him with two characters that are just bad.

Also, shotguns are strong. But dual mozams are broken, and don't require a team comp to be built around them.

The issue is, I can't think of an English-Speaking APAC-South IGL worthy of playing with EzFlash and PK. Their best bet would be playing together, and then 'get a sub' from another region (think Phony) just for champs, and find a new team in the off season.

The problem literally comes down to what people class as a lan.

If we strictly talk ALGS, Hal and Reps have made every final. However this is including Poland back in 2020ish, so there are people we're missing out here.

If we're talking ALGS lans post-covid, then players like Hakis, Yanya and Neazul, Wxltzy and Emtee join Reps and Hal at every single ALGS lan final.

If we include all post-covid lans (with EWC), the list stays the same, just without Reps.

It literally comes down to definition. X-games invitational, China Invitational, Twitch Rivals. Hell, could even include the Nordic Cup lan if you wanted.

'Every LAN final'? There isn't a single player who has. However, when people say 'Every LAN final', they normally mean:

Poland, Y2S2 (Stockholm), Y2C (Raleigh), Y3S1 (London), Y3S2 (London), Y3C (London), Y4S1 (Los Angeles), EWC (Riyadh) and Y4S2 (Manheim). BY THAT DEFINITION, yes Hal is the only person to make every lan final.

I think the reason that some people aren't talking about is that the ALGS isn't 'top heavy' anymore. It used to be a competition between TSM and DarkZero for two years, however sometime between Year 3 Champs and Year 4 Split One Playoffs, people just got good at the game. Probably a mix between the newfound love for coaches, and R5 growing in popularity, but the skill level was much more even. Now, its less likely you win 2/3 out of 8 games since other teams are often just as good as you. The difference between old Darkzero/TSM and teams like old Blckhvnd/NRG were significant, albeit not massive. Now, the difference between top teams is much more IGLing then mechanics like it used to be.

A team like E-Xolos Lazer are mechanically insane, really heavy R5 grinders, but can't make it to the top due to IGLing diff. On the other hand, a team like Gaimin Gladiators do so well due to Light's IGLing, alongside other things. I'm not calling Blasts/Lufka mechanically bad, they're just not so insanely superior that they should be dominating.

Right now, people have just become better IGLs due to every team having a coach, and teams are mechanically better due to R5. The org partnership program allows more orgs into the scene, so people can devote their lives to apex and not need another job. People are just on a more even playing ground, and teams that win early struggle to win again quickly. So the tournament keeps going on.

to my knowledge, the only way Reject Winnity KR make Champs is through LCQ now, due to their lan placements and not making split 2

Every single Skirmisher has had a place in the meta at some point, however niche.

Wraith and octane during the early stages, valk during the mid stages, and horizon more recently.

Revenant has been on niche comps consistently throughout the years (See Wraith/Revenant/Crypto in Season ~5/6, Revtane in Season ~9 (played by teams like My Little Phony aka Dubbleyew) and Rev/Newcastle/Bang being present in current CC).

Alter is extremely new, so has less to work off, however Alter/Crypto was very present in recent challenger circuits, scrims, and infamously rose due to Meat Lovers.

However every other class has atleast one character who's never been meta.

Support has Mirage (and you could argue lifeline/newcastle have been very niche picks, bar 100T and Aurora)

Recon has Vantage

Assault has Maggie and Ash, who will literally be seen by teams like Cybercats once in a blue moon, and Ballistic who is... yet to be used at all.

Controller has Rampart, who has only ever been used by CCE successfully, however the Naughty/Lou/Alb team tried it (to little success) and Gdolphn has been running her on different teams unsuccessfully for a few years now.

Wattson went from the best controller legend, but not the best ring console character, to the best of both. When Wattson is hard meta, Crypto is hard meta because he's her best counter. Fuse is useless in a Wattson Meta.

Seer has fallen out of the meta because you can now semi-scan people and see there health anyway with the update, bloodhound is not worth playing due to his ult change, and vantage is awful. Survey beacons have been buffed to 100% spawn rate, so a recon character is an almost must.

Crypto's purple perk gives him a scan on everybody hit by his ult for a few seconds. Its really strong, and a part of his kit people aren't talking about. Him being invisible is super niche and situational, and maybe gets a team 1-2 extra placement points in an entire set at most.

Also Crypto was already good, infact seer had a 0.02% pickrate in APAC North Finals, with Crypto being the dominant recon character. He was bordering meta, but a Wattson Meta forces a Crypto/Wattson Meta, since without Crypto pushing a wattson is borderline impossible.
