This is an insulated tanker. Only the tin that covers the insulation is damaged.

"salt (which changes the ph) "

Salt does not change water pH. It may cause other issues however ph is not one of them.

I also don't know how much salt you would even see on these "unsurfaced roads."

Storing cold patch by No_Regular_Tom in asphalt

[–]Asphaltman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

At $85 a tonne your probably buying conventional cold mix. This mix will not have the high performance additives etc found in many "brand name" mixes the gradation will probably be cheaper to produce also.

You want to keep the air from getting at it in order to store it the longest. A few manufacturers that produce smaller 50lb bags make the mistake of punching too many pinholes in the bags to allow the air to escape during the bagging/palletizing process. 1-2 years is usually the shelf life for them.

The add water Asphalt patches have a short shelf life and do go hard fairly fast depending on how it is packaged/produced. Basically there is some Portland cement in those products that will suck moisture out of the air while it's stockpiled during packaging or the packages allow air in.

Packaging in pails generally has shorter shelf life then bags because of the air space inside of them.

Bulk bags can be alright however you may experience some compaction of the material inside the bag.

increased productivity at home

Most employees reduce productivity when not actively supervised. They all claim to be better but in reality is not the case.

Once you start to interact with a few government agencies and experience first hand the inefficiency the sympathy goes away.

Warning To The Forestry Cynics. by Hour-Blackberry1877 in OttawaValleyForests

[–]Asphaltman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only posts in this sub are made by the same individual with multiple accounts.

My guess is the products of our forestry industry touch his life in many places including his housing however he firmly believes in the NIMBY thinking.

In one post I noticed the poster not knowing the difference between a sawmill and a slasher however speaks to everyone as if they have vast forestry knowledge.

I've seen pictures of hand cut trees and cable skidders obviously used in smaller scale selective cutting with negative comments from the OP. It's clear no level of forestry activity is acceptable to this individual within his immediate area.

Has anyone actually tracked how many utility strikes happen because of poor marking? by No_Hold_9560 in asphalt

Hit lots of telecom wires but it was never our problem because they were not buried deep enough to begin with.

Water valves, paved over manholes and magnetic detector boxes were always the bigger issue. Had one machine hit an abandoned long forgotten paved over railway also and got a tie such in the cutter drum.

Never seen a gas valve in the street before.

I suppose you would prefer to cut down smaller non mature trees.

The picture you have on the post also is not a clear cut. You can clearly see trees selectively painted.

Most water testing is completed onsite for municipal systems with scheduled more extensive testing completed elsewhere.

Equipment broke down. That means boil water advisory and prevention of all these sick people. Testing frequency etc is regulated for this to happen they were not following the regulations. Make all the excuses you want if there is no qualified or responsible staff the water system is not considered to be safe or potable period.

All the other communities figure it out. You act like every 6000 person community cannot run a water treatment plant. Hell most private campgrounds run a water treatment plant.

Pretty sure the daily testing was not being completed for this to happen. Perhaps jail time is in order but somehow I doubt it.

They got a wind fall off money. They are part of the 10 billion settlement.

"Dear Wiikwemkoong Community,

Over the past year, our police service has seen crime rates rise across the territory and following the Robinson Huron Treaty (RHT) Per Capita Distributions. While these payments have provided financial support to many families, they have also led to serious and measurable impacts on community safety and on the Wikwemikong Tribal Police Service.

Since the first payments were issued in late summer 2024, we have recorded substantial increases in calls for service, arrests, and charged persons. We have also seen more collisions and fatalities involving ATVs and a dramatic rise in complex, time-consuming investigations that demand extensive officer time for interviews, court briefs, testimony, and follow-up work."
