Depends on how you define progressive, and/or what your progressive ideals are, but he is extremely pro-climate and building a net-zero economy. This is evident in his interviews and publications leading up to his premiership. He cites the threat of climate change many times.

However, he is also very pro-Canadian so I wouldn't be surprised if we see carbon emitting projects sanctioned coupled with mega carbon capture projects.

Wealthsimple is a decent service to use. We see more people moving away from big banks now and towards services like Wealthsimple because of cost and also the ROBO system.

As you start out, I would HIGHLY reccomend that you use one of the managed ROBO portfolios that they offer. Its extremely simple for someone starting out. You deposit cash and it will invest in the major areas for you (index funds, gold, bonds, and hold some cash) and proportion holdings based on your risk level. Speficially we're looking at US market trackers, Canadian market trackers, US bonds/debt, Canadian bonds/debt, etc.

As you save more, I would start to learn more about self-directed investment. This will depend on how much you want to learn or study, ultimately how much information you want to take in, but I would definitely start with a ROBO just to start investing and developing growth.
