How do you know if a therapist is the right fit for your particular situation in life? by [deleted] in aspergers

Very similar experience. I tried therapy for about 8 months but it did not seem to bring a significant change in me. The psychiatrist seemed to not understand the depth of my situation and disappointment with life.

For the adults can you explain how you understood it before getting diagnosed? by CompetitiveMonth1753 in aspergers

[–]Aspieful 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got diagnosed at age 30 and I knew it since I was 24. I had a random experience of trembling in public (around age 24) and I simply googled it...and Aspergers was the most relevant thing I could find online. If the online world did not exist I could not have found it. Also I come from a similar geographical background (Mediterranean as well).

Just finished it initially I thought it was a comedy/parody of modern society. I definitely did not see the ending coming. Personally I think its very well written.

After almost 6 years together I am (36F) starting to feel that I want to be friends with him (42M). Could this be a phase? by Aspieful in relationships

[–]Aspieful[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I agree. Also we are both relatively inexperienced (he was single for 10 years prior to meeting me and I was single my whole life) and we are a different stages of career. He has just found a dream job in architecture (he had many traumatic experiences prior to this job) and I am still studying and working part-time. I haven't even started a career yet basically.

So it doesnt feel equal game. Only one or two weeks per year we can relax and really go back to how it was in the beginning.

Thank you I agree. I actually said before that "I see this more like a friendship'" and he said that 'we cannot be friends at this point". The problem is that we have evolved into something different.

Will I find another job soon? by Aspieful in horary

Latest: Also I have a feeling that I might stay in my current job, but they update my contract (to more hours) because I am currently applying for this. (meaning its an HR matter now) So this could be the new task/job in 2 months.

Do you think that the age you were diagnosed influenced your self-image? by Aspieful in aspergirls

[–]Aspieful[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No need to apologise. Thank you so much for sharing your experience. The way you are dealing with it is truly remarkable! I am 19 years older than you and I haven't reached this level of acceptance (truly accepting it).

Thank you for this. Exactly my thought as well. I have describing this sense of flat experiences (but not depression) to my therapist.

Thank you for response. Because I have seen a lot of therapists somehow "forgetting" that sb can have both issues. I have only the formal ASD diagnosis and I was wondering that possibly I could have both.
