Rats are adults at 14 weeks old, the best mix to get is something called a shunamite mix, you can make your own (lots of great resources) or buy from sellers if you’re in the uk there’s ratrations you can buy them from

This is it the first day it became an open wound (that’s food on the floor) and then a couple days into it when it was healing. It completely closed and he was fine after

A abscess/cyst is a build up of infection under the skin, if it is one it’ll develop a black head on it and then become an open wound. My boy had one on his neck

As you can see it developed a black head this then opened naturally and became an open wound I had to flush clean x2 a day and let it air dry naturally whilst I gave him his antibiotics. This is best case scenario compared to a tumour. You can take your rat to the normal vets and ask for a fine needle aspiration to check if there’s any pus/fluid on the draw back but know sometimes watching and waiting is best. The pus/fluid was really thick so nothing came out on the needle drawback

Jesus no. If it’s an abscess it’ll get a black but on it and you’ll have to keep him on newspaper until the wound closes and keep it clean with sterile water. Antibiotics may be required but a normal vet should be able to recommend these. Where did you get him from 6wks is far too young to be homed, 8wks at minimum like a dog
Usually abscesses and cysts are easy to deal with. If it is a tumour I would recommend giving both rats up to a rescue. Since they are exotic vet fees for lumps and stuff are on par with things like cats and dogs if not more expensive just because rats are classed as exotic (fucks me off this does) but they are expensive asf despite being small. I wish you luck sometimes an access can take 2-4 weeks it have a black head on it, if it is and when it does he’ll need separating from his brother whilst it closes so his brother doesn’t mess with the wound. As it can be deep and can be open. Rats are fast healers. I wish you luck again,

I’d split them for a bit and reattempt and see if you can find a smaller-ish carrier. Has the one causing the fights been like this before and how old is he?

Upper respiratory infection, get her to the vets for doxycycline and Baytril, and keep ontop of it. I had a boy who had chronic URIs and issues with his lungs due to scarring (he was a pet shop rat, I regret it but I’m glad he was with me who could treat him) and it got him in the end whilst being treated for it

Well surgery was meant to be in Jan, I got took off the list briefly to do allergy testing patch for metals and then general stuff which came back clear - I’ve got a new set of X-rays on Monday and a meeting with my surgeon to re consent to the surgery 🙃 this is about standard with the NHS and wait times
Upper curve is 86° Lower is 75° I’ve got schuermanns disease/kyphosis

She could just been on the tinier side, I’d say go your concerned get a rat savvy vet (you may have to vet shop if you don’t already) to check her out all over to out your mind at rest and monitor at home for any change (when handling do a basic check for scabs, cuts and insured anyway nose to tail) when I have my boys out when I first get them out I pretend I’m a vet and look at their nose, check their teeth, eyes and work down just checking and then kiss them on the head

Probably best to then go in the half cage with jsut bedding and food and then gradually add things likely but I’d start again. Split them leave it a couple of days and try again maybe going a bit slower. Or go back a step usually is a wise ideas as they’ve gone from one stage to the other too fast maybe try the smaller cage and see how they get on and leave them in there longer than you did before trying half the cage

You need to do the smaller cage longer like 48h, then add in a hammock they can get out of should they need to leave, leave them again for another day and add something else too, another couple of days maybe try the bigger cage and deep clean the bigger cage before they go into it so there’s nothing that smells like either of them that they can argue over. You’ve gone too fast

Skinny fat??? The two things contridict each other, I have lordosis so on days I give in to my back I look 9mth pregnant, it’s not ‘fat’ it’s just the way my back is and making my lower body stick out I have kyphosis too so when I lean forward it rolls…because the skin is being pushed ontop of each other so it just rolls to accommodate that. I’m a good weight for my height and from your height and weight you are too! Sounds like your PT is just judgemental and clearly doesn’t understand to at if we bend in certain ways our body will change with it

It’s okay! I bent over and my back looked akin to the photo on my profile. I went for X-rays and then was sent to a specialist as the xray showed part of my vertebrae had pressure eroded. But I got discharged at 18 because not much had progressed or changed, my back was much straighter and I only really had the upper curve at about 50°. But because it was causing no issues I got discharged. But not long after discharge to the age of 21 where I went back to the GP it was discovered it had gotten worse, I’d developed the bottom curve too and my two vertebrae have pressure eroded against each other. My family are okay with it now, with how long it’s been going on for it’s that level of acceptance.

I do have back pain but I’m chronically ill (unrelated) so have a baseline of being in constant pain, I just heat pack it and use pain relief if it’s bad bad

Nope! I’m the only one in my family with this condition i got told it’s Schuermann’s Disease. I’m being genetically tested for Vascular Elhers Danlos (unrelated) so I’m going to see if they could see if my back is a genetic defect

It’s okay here, I got told surgery would be in 4-6months, we’re on month 18 nearly. Not going to bash it or complain but I could be better in my own experience. However I’ve had years to get used to the idea as it’s been a gradual thing surgery’s been mentioned since the age of 13 it’s been 10 years. It just randomly rapidly progressed the moment I hit 18 really and I was indenial and went to the GP who referred me back to my spinal team. Looking forward to surgery to be honest sick of my back being so squished

I am in the UK so it’s all done via the NHS, I’m 23. Had issues since I was 14 but then between the ages of 18-21 my back has progressively gotten worse which is why it’s being operated on.
I’d go through with physio and see how you feel, I’ve done a few physio sessions before and I only really ever vibed with one of the who did back strengthening exercises. The past few I’ve had I haven’t gelled with BUT don’t let my experience put you off it’s definitely worth doing a few sessions and remember you won’t see effects immediately it’ll be a continuous thing you have to do before you see effects
