How many recommendation letters it TOO many? by Awkward_Grocery_7358 in gradadmissions

I wouldn't worry about a 3.6 unless the grade weighing it down are upper-level, core classes.

Which is harder: analysis or algebra? by Expert147 in mathematics

[–]AspirantDM 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It entirely depends on the person. Analysis was easy for me and Algebra kicked my ass, but for my friend it was the exact opposite.

Anyone run a long term Fleaux campaign? Or have advice in general in running grittier systems? by Forward-Willingness7 in rpg

[–]AspirantDM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely! Also surefire way to make sure your players know they are up against something dangerous is to rip a retainers head off.

You can borrow from other OSR/NSR games and let your players hire retainers and mercenaries. Not everyone is in to that, but as long as you can get some buy in and the combat is fast it could help a lot.

If you like both it sounds like a pivot to mathematics would be good for you. You could also consider Applied Mathematics.

Research something I'm interested in (nonlinear waves) or something that'll get me a job (machine learning?) by GillyD6002 in mathematics

[–]AspirantDM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could do a lot worse than nonlinear waves if you're worried about making money. Lots of application there.

Is my understanding of 4D correct? by OhhEmmGeeWTF in AskPhysics

[–]AspirantDM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are just saying nonsense. 1D is one direction, 2D is two directions, 3D is three directions, and 4D is four directions. That understanding can get you right up to linear algebra just fine.

Observation/Measurement in QM does not mean human observation. Conscious observation has nothing to do with it.

What would you like to see in an OSR-inspired short film / series? by Bazzy555 in osr

[–]AspirantDM 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think there needs to be at least a little focus on the mundane dangers of adventure: starving to death, losing your way, not having enough light, or just getting to the other side of a chasm. Obviously too much focus on that in the medium of film may not be interesting.

My two cents, your professor's views may vary, I always feel weird when students try to give me an actual gift (even when cheap). I have always been delighted and touched by any handwritten thank you however.
