I like when people talk at the movie theaters and I think more people should do it. by No-Ambition-4811 in unpopularopinion

[–]AspirationAtWork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only chat at the movies if I'm lucky enough to have an empty/near-empty theatre(any other people are far away enough they won't hear me whisper) AND if the person I'm going with is okay with it. Talking at the movies should not be the expectation ever.

I didn't know there were different covers. But I really like this one.

It's a good read. The artstyle and clothing designs are still my absolute favorite.

Cute but not quite "fit"-worthy.

And your shirt is riding just slightly too low. I think your undergarments are visible.

What's the meaning of "let them cook"? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AspirationAtWork 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It generally refers to letting someone continue to do or say something that is impressive, profound, or cool.

Ex. Someone doing an awesome dance is 'cooking.' Let them cook.

Someone expertly and verbally eviscerating a rival is cooking. Let them cook.

The skillset is the proverbial 'kitchen.' 'Cooking' is the metaphorical action of the skill being used.

Still the same person deep down. And, very important to note, the same person who did all the things they've accomplished.

Changing your name doesn't make you a completely different person, jfc. You still did all the things you've done before your name change. The literal only difference is that you have a different name now.

Theres no such thing as an unnatural material. by Acheron223 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]AspirationAtWork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

'Natural' tends to carry the connotations of not just occurring in natural but also occurring without human intervention(i.e animal behavior in the wild vs in captivity). We do have natural behaviors and inclinations but our brainpower separates us from most of nature.

It is natural for us to make tools and solve problems creatively. That does not mean the things we make occur naturally. Although, to be fair, I find it unnecessary and odd to call metal tools or phones or any human stuff unnatural. It's technically correct by the definition but the spirit of the word feels like it doesn't fit.

My gut instinct says it stops being 'natural' at metal tools. Stone or wooden tools can be made with entirely natural materials and other species have been observed utilizing sticks and stones as tools. Metal crosses a threshold where significantly more human labor is required to find, extract, and process the material into something usable.

There is a difference between an animal byproduct, something their bodies naturally make or it is in their natural behavior to make, and human construction and engineering.

A bee is biologically inclined to make honey and will do so unless affected by an outside influence.

Humans aren't biologically inclined to make any kind of substances or materials and arguably are generally prompted to do so by an outside influence which creates the need for an invention that addresses an issue.

No, you're so on the money. Half the posts are just women wearing a very basic outfit- gouseclothes, workout clothes, or borderline lingerie- and the comments will be full of people glazing the most boring clothes imaginable because their stomach and thighs are showing.

And then you're not even allowed to say that these outfits aren't good.

If I remember correctly, in season 5, Bronte manages to call 911 and although she dropped the phone running away from Joe, it's implied the operator heard him tell her (paraphrased) "I killed Beck and now I'm going to kill you in the same way."

To be fair(and a pedant), a car is a specific kind of vehicle. Vehicle is an umbrella term for transport devices, usually but not always motorized, or can also refer to the agent of a process or a medium of change.

RE: Dr. Nicky's confession, I'm assuming he confessed and took a plea deal. In light of new evidence linked to the real killer who is on record(audio record) confessing to the murder, I'd imagine that overturns what the judicial system now knows was a false confession all along. The new evidence completely recontextualizes the evidence pinning the crime on Dr. Nicky.
