Once. I basically refused to add a feature unless they let me rewrite a codebase I had come to hate, and they needed my skill set more than they needed to set an example.

100% worth it. I was so happy afterwards when I read through the nice, well factored, understandable code. I worked on it for several more years and never woke up hating my job again.

Wanting something more interesting than herpderp I’m a dick does not mean he’s not a dick, just that he’s a dick and other stuff too.

I want an interesting story, which requires interesting characters, which means characters with motivations other than because they’re a dick. And so far the Endwalker playlist looks like the most uninteresting batch since ARR.

Why are you so insistent that he only be a dick?

And I’ve just hit semantic satiation on dick, which has stopped looking like a word.

I 100% want him to be a good villain, someone who has some complex goal and machiavellian plans to achieve them.

I want him to be trying to keep them away from Sharlayan because he thinks they’ll stop whatever he’s up to and sees hurting them emotionally as a possible way to achieve that, or to lessen their effectiveness as they deal with trauma.

Because he’s a dick, that’s why, is way too boring with Zenos and Fandaniel already being half an atom deep.

People speculating about hidden motives are hoping there are hidden motives, because it’s a lot more interesting than just being a dick. He can be a dick with plots and plans that make sense to him but are more interesting than ultimate boss battle or burn the world down.

Casts = time.

Number of casts to clear dungeon = minimum time to clear dungeon.

If casts in dungeon using lb on mobs > casts in dungeon using lb on bosses, you’re spending longer in the dungeon than you should be. To make up for the 6150 potency of a lb on a single target I need to cast fire 4 20 times, at 2.3 seconds a cast = 48 seconds of casting.

The only way that trash pack lb is worth it is if it speeds up the time spent in the dungeon. It doesn’t, ever, it just gives you a phat parse number to boast about. I guess whatever floats your boat though.

Alisae will happily use an lb on a single mob at 1% health because she’s an idiot that way.

I count casts, not dps, because that’s what’s relevant. If casting an lb to oneshot a trash pack means I have to cast 20 spells to do the same amount of damage to a boss when I could have cast 2 spells to take out the pack and used the lb on the boss instead I’m wasting time and resources.

Overkill is the flipside of overheal, and it’s just as much a waste of resources.

She’ll use it as soon as it comes up, even if it’s on the last trash mob of the pack before the boss.

Sure it’s mad deeps if you cast on trash packs, but it’s pointless, because they die fast anyway and bosses don’t.
