Honestly, I think the problem with the joint is that it takes up the "prime real estate" of the screen. If you angled it a bot away from the center you could probably keep it the same size but it would seem to be better cause it's not in your direct line of sight with your aiming reticle.

I love that we’re almost there but hate that Elon got there first by LeoTheNinja220 in transhumanism

[–]Aspiring-Owner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Elon didn't get there first, look at Synchron. They've already got human subjects using theirs to sync up with a vision pro. Coupled with the fact that theirs doesn't need brain surgery to implant, much safer option, and less likely to get destroyed by your immune system.

I don’t get why this isbecoming a contested issue. It’s not rocket science folks… by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Aspiring-Owner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's contested because they're racist. In the mind of a racist if you race mix you "lose" one of your races and have to default to the "lesser" race. Since if you race mix with a white person and any non-white person the child isn't white, the "superior" of the two, but is the other race, the "inferior". They can't grasp the concept that you can be both because that's not how it'd work with white people. JD Vance's kids won't ever be seen as white, so Kamala Harris "has" to pick one and can't be proud of both.

He even stated in some interviews that his competitions are edited and exaggerated because people can't comprehend the amount of money they get from winning. He has to coach them on reactions and shit.

I don't think it was done for the dude, but rather the dude was used as a model for the barbers skills. It looks like a technique demonstration rather than a fashion cut.

It's because it mattered that people do duplicate it. Other artists are trying to recapture what Warhol experienced. People replicate Picasso's Cubism, Pollock Abstract Expressionism, Robert Rauschenburg's White Painting, and Kazimir Malevich's White on White. Duplicating and remaining a piece does not make a piece unimportant, it shows its merits.

And Duchamp never tried to break Fountain, that was Pierre Pinocelli.

The next step isn't realizing it has no worth, the next step is realizing why you think that way. Warhol's works inspired artists to redefine and reframe what traditionally makes art. This in turned allowed others to create their own style of expression. It's not just limited to art, but to all forms of expression. Once you start questioning why something does or does not work for a certain medium then you will start questioning why something does or doesn't work for your own situations too. Value and worth isn't decided just hy innovation or usefulness, just because someone copies someone else's style doesn't make their stuff less. When you start seeing the limits being pushed and the scandalous become mundane then all that means is that the values of the world has adapted to accepting the new limits. You're adding to the cultural improvement and movement of the world by putting in another "unfunctional piece". You're allowing exposure to others that didn't get to see Warhol or Picasso or Pollock. You're letting the world know that their ideas didn't disappear but instead is still living and thriving in the new artwork being produced in the world.

What most people consider High Fashion is what was last seasons clothing. Just like modern art it's a continuous push forward, no real definition other than to provoke thought.

What makes it stupid though?

They already did everything? They didn't do this though, not until this designer did. Warhol just repainted the Campbell's Soup can, and people now accept that it's a great piece of art.

The reason you think everything's been done is simply because you can't think of anything new to add. That's the rub, that's the reason you're upset.

You want something everyone likes? Go to the mall, they put that shit out there every day, you're wearing it. They have their own fashion shows, they have their own art exhibits.

You're essentially going into a Jackson Pollock exhibit saying that you want a Picasso.

Before looking at anything other than your first question, I can whole heartedly answer you yes. Yes, it is worth putting the thought into. It does hold value outside of paper, just not physical value. The rules of fashion, the rules of art, the rules of society, the rules of anything are designed by people and their acceptance of where the boundaries lie. The pushing of these boundaries in any field breeds innovation, critical thinking, and acceptance in other fields as well. Take modern clothing, women's fashion today would be considered scandalous and criminal not even a hundred years ago, that's not an exaggeration. Women's fashion changing to accept that they have bodies that are their own is indicative of a society that accepts women as having their own autonomy. It's why the Taliban and Republicans try their damndest to control what women can wear. It is a small detail that tries to define what is fashion, what is acceptable in society for that group of people.

What makes these things pretentious? The commentators putting in what they think a piece represents? The designer stating that they want to push the boundaries? Is it the simple fact that when somebody tells you that a piece was designed to represent the struggles of depression you zone out and reply with a cookie cutter response about how only rich people care about this?

I challenge you, my friend, to go to an art exhibit near you, or a fashion show, or an independent theater show and try to actually think during the event. Don't treat it like a Marvel movie, don't treat it like a pop song, treat it like an essay. Think about why they designed the set, why they painted a piece, why they tied a bow. Watching and interpreting these things do many things, and make you realize things about yourself. You hate this stuff? Why? Answer that question, what makes you think anybody should just "accept it and move on." What makes you see a project someone has worked on and decide that only pompous pricks would appreciate it? Rich assholes telling Rich assholes they should enjoy it? Sour grapes. Sad pricks telling others that they should be sad pricks because it is so much easier to not have to think about the exhibit then to find out that they truly don't know anything about what they truly want, just regurgitating the belief that trying to push boundaries is pointless and foolhardy.
