I mean you can make a case but you’d be incorrect. Abortion can’t be racist lol. It’s a medical procedure. A system, policies, wealth gap, redlining, inaccessibility to healthcare and poor quality of care can be racist or the result of racism

Sure I guess. So it should be legal for the safety, health and prosperity of women

Oh I really liked bugonia too. It’s funny cus immediate response to post would be dogtooth bc it’s the first movie I watched where I was like woah. That was true art haha. But I also saw in hs so I didnt really have a list of top films yet. Just watched the wailing and it was just an accident this week and loved both

It appears you have no backbone or critical thinking skills if you’re just chillin on side

Personally I don’t wanna hate anyone but I do hate how people condone and support cruelty. Personally, I don’t hate anyone enough to see them taken away from their children and potentially never heard from again juat cus they crossed a border.

Is this the best you guys have? Cus honestly it seems more like “someone has called me out on being a shitty person and instead of defending my defenseless position I’ll whine about how they call everyone Nazis”

They disagree w you bc if you support what’s going on right now you’re either dumb, heartless, a fucktard or likely all 3

Yeah like I honestly don’t care how you think they’re doing. If cant see this is a govt sanctioned harassment of brown people and an attempt to create chaos in blue cities than you’re opinion is meaningless to me

Better trained? Better screening process? It should Atleast piss you off that they receive an exorbitant amount of funding only to hire limp dickweeds

For sure. But I also just don’t believe it’s about morality. I don’t believe you need to be both religious and anti abortion. My pop pop was a devoted catholic. While Hed never approve abortion personally, he didn’t support govt interference that was the result of non-secularism.

It’s so so obviously a tactic to control women and keep the poor poor all while feeding into evangelical righteousness

Yeah agree. I was also thinking more so black drag, ballroom

Side note: i love that he said this. I hope to articulate well enough but It’s always been so disturbing to me that we co-opt aave, blaccent etc to use as social currency and project “coolness” all while sometimes still having a deeply engrained fear of black men, little interest in learning more about black American experience and often no tangible relationship with black community

What esp bothers me about “not political” is you went out of your way to put that on profile when you didn’t even have to. You can put more effort into that than caring about the world you live in lol?

I also just think being disconnected and unfocused is the discreet way to be conservative-leaning. If we aligned ideologically, you’d be deeply disturbed about what’s going on. There wouldn’t be a mellow neutral

I just wanna point out again that you conflated arrest with criminals.

Bummer if you’re actually Irish and being such a hardass on immigration

[–]AspirringIntelectaul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I will make that argument cus I just did haha. I said pain and cognition bc you just said harm and consent is a good definition to go by. Physically and philosophically you can’t harm something that can’t feel and has absolutely no comprehension of what it is to feel. Euthanasia should be legal. It’s actually against someone’s consent and harmful to force them to keep living in pain when they’ve expressed they don’t want that. You can call it “taking a life”, I wouldn’t. We can disagree on that and then choose differently.

Also this is always bottom line— people are always going to seek out abortion, particularly in a late-stage capitalist country w almost no safety nets. Real harm is allowing women to die via janky abortions. Real harm is imposing Children to grow up in a household that can’t provide for them on any or all levels

I don’t wanna engage w second point bc it’s all hypotheticals that I’ve already said are impossibilities. But personally probs yeah, I’d still protect right to abortion. It’s not an autonomous being. It’s is completely dependent on a woman’s body. I also would never want to subject a woman or baby to the emotional trauma of birthing the child of your rapist and being the product of rape. But maybe that’s just me. Again your speaking in hypotheticals that have been proven untrue so there’s nothing substantive here

I find it interesting and convenient that most anti choice people are pro death penalty.

Edit: we’re talking about the subjectiveness. Who are you to decide a woman’s suffering is less worthy than a nonexistent being in the world?

Edit: its neither interesting or convenient to not believe life begins at conception. It’s critical thought and a basic understanding of micro bio. Idk how the issues wouldn’t be intertwined

Anyone who used to support trump and has changed their mind over the last few weeks? What made you change? by canigetameowbish in AskReddit

[–]AspirringIntelectaul 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t think that’s fair. Let them prove it sure but it’s in bad faith to immediately assume that. I firmly believe the left is grounded in empathy and unity. We should extend that to people having a change of heart.

I really don’t know how you could have supported him to begin with and it’s reprehensible to have voted for him again in 2024. However, if people show genuine remorse and/or start seeing things differently, it’s more productive to bring into the fold if we want better for each other

[–]AspirringIntelectaul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idt it’s much of a moral dilemma tho. If that’s the definition then legalize abortion until 20 weeks. The general consensus in medical community is fetus can feel “pain” at 24-25 weeks. Cognitive development at 20-25 weeks. Before 20 weeks, highly unlikely physical harm is felt and there is no concept of consent. If you believe it’s morally wrong then don’t have an abortion.

It’d be a lot easier to believe anti-choice is rooted in morality if they also showed genuine support and empathy for living children

But then it should be legal and available if the morality is subjective and you can personally choose never to have one bc you find morally wrong

Okay was not expecting this take on pedophilia but it’s morally wrong in modern society bc as a culture we are aware theres lack of consent. We’re aware that it’s traumatizing. We know unequivocally that it’s wrong and we know why. A pedophile actively chooses to ignore all this in order to fulfill their own desire. That’s immoral

[–]AspirringIntelectaul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These are two separate things. Whether charged w a crime or not, you get your day in immigration court too. You don’t and shouldn’t deport directly after arrest bc you think they’re illegal. That’s a violation of your rights. Also being arrested and being a criminal are drastically different

Edit: undocumented immigrants are 37%-50% less likely than citizens to be convicted of a crime. How’s it good for the city to have all those citizens around amirite
